Visit the small town of Gander and outlying communities, whose citizens
inspired the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Come From Away. Gander
itself doubled in size when it welcomed nearly 7,000 passengers from around
the world on September 11, 2001.
20 years later, the people of Gander and surrounding area – plus all of
Newfoundland and Labrador – remember. We continue to pay tribute to the
victims, honour the first responders, and hold in our thoughts all those whose
lives changed in a single day.
Gander boasts a rich aviation history, which can be learned by visiting the freshly
renovated, world-famous International Lounge at the Gander International Airport.
Following a day of storytelling, head to Sinbad’s Hotel and Suites – located in the
heart of downtown Gander – for a gourmet meal at the restaurant. Finish the night
mingling with a cocktail at the lounge before settling in for the night.
