Fiscal Year 2018 Budget

Reduction

I write to inform you of a reduction in the state appropriations

for the University System of Maryland (USM) and a decrease

in the 2017-2018 operating budget for Bowie State University.

This decrease in funding is the result of a projected revenue

shortfall for the state of Maryland. Please note, grant- and

auxiliary-funded positions and activities will not be affected.

As we work on solutions for balancing our budget for this

year, I request that department budget managers continue to

monitor their allocations and carefully review all hiring and

spending submitted for state-funded activities.

greater detail on the BSU plan to absorb the required

reduction in the 2017-2018 operating

budget.
