An  external  examiner  must  be  an  assistant,  associate  or  full
                   professor  in  the  teaching  or  research  area  of  the  student’s
                   discipline who is very knowledgeable in the area of the student’s
                   research.  An external examiner must have published in a referred
                   journal  or  conference  publications.    An  external  examiner  must
                   submit his/her credentials as documented on a curriculum vitae to
                   the Graduate School for review and approval.

                          b.  Dissertation Examining Committee

                   The dissertation committee, therefore, will be comprised of the
                   following:

                              1.  dissertation committee chairperson
                              2.  three other committee members
                              3.  an external examiner

                   The dissertation committee members are responsible for guiding
                   the student through the writing period of the dissertation which
                   will include the rewrites and changes that are synonymous with any
                   dissertation writing process. The committee under the guidance of
                   the  dissertation  advisor  must  make  sure  that  the  student’s
                   dissertation meets the graduate standard before submission for
                   defense approval to the Graduate School office.

                          c.  Graduate School Standard

                   Graduate School Dissertation Standard includes the following:

                              1.  Approval of the Institutional Review Board
                              2.  Completion  of  the  requisite  research  and  data
                                 analysis
                              3.  Review of the appropriate literature which is of
                                 sufficient  breadth  and  depth  that  it  meets  the
                                 level of scholarship for doctoral studies
                              4.  Follows the American Psychological Association
                                 (APA) style format
                              5.  Citing sources used in the study
                              6.  Maintaining a consistent type-face of document
                                 and charts
                              7.  Avoiding plagiarism
