The University Academic Council further reviews the endorsed curriculum from the
campus and approves and endorses to CHED for scrutiny and approval.
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) reviews the proposal for new program
and visit the HEI with the Regional Quality Assessment Team for ocular inspection and
recommendations. CHED will issue Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) if the new
program meets the minimum standard requirements. For curriculum revision, CHED will review
the proposed curriculum for contents notation.
The Board of Regents approves the curriculum for implementation. Curriculum revisions
emanate from the department level with the participation of stakeholders such as industry partners,
students, alumni, parents, faculty and administrators then the output will be presented to the college
academic council meeting, campus academic council meeting up to university level and to
be reviewed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for contents notation and for
endorsement to the Board of Regents for approval.
C. Setting Competency Standards
Competency standards are observed or set so that graduates of the Bachelor of Science in
Nursing program are able to:
A. Safe and Quality Nursing Care
∙ Core Competency 1: Demonstrates knowledge based on the health/illness status of
individual/groups
∙ Core Competency 2: Provides sound decision making in the care of
individuals/families/groups considering their beliefs and values
∙ Core Competency 3: Promotes safety and comfort and privacy of clients
∙ Core Competency 4: Sets priorities in nursing care based on clients’ needs
∙ Core Competency 5: Ensures continuity of care
∙ Core Competency 6: Administers medications and other health therapeutics
∙ Core Competency 7: Utilizes the nursing process as framework for nursing
o 7.1 Performs comprehensive and systematic nursing assessment
o 7.2 Formulates a plan of care in collaboration with clients and other members
of the health team
o 7.3 Implements planned nursing care to achieve identified outcomes
o 7.4 Evaluates progress toward expected outcomes
B. Management of Resources and Environment
∙ Core Competency 1: Organizes work load to facilitate client care
∙ Core Competency 2: Utilizes financial resources to support client care
∙ Core Competency 3: Establishes mechanism to ensure proper functioning of
equipment
