Ice Cube Explains Why Lamar Odom Was Booted From BIG3
LAMAR ODOM AND ICE CUBE
Former NBA star Lamar Odom was deactivated from the BIG3 league on Wednes- day, a move that has left the athlete “extremely disap- pointed.”
“Effective immediately,
Baron Davis, Bonzi Wells, Lamar Odom, and Jermaine O’Neal will be deactivated for the 2019 BIG3 season,” a press release from the league reads.
Odom was kicked to the curb after having played just one game as co-captain of the Enemies. The league’s state- ment said the decision to drop him and the other players came “after a series of consul- tations with players, coaches and league leadership.”
League co-founder, rap- per/actor Ice Cube, is now speaking out about why Odom and his fellow players were booted.
“As a league, we want players that are actually play- ing, so if you aren’t playing, or can’t play, or you have any health issues,” Cube tells TMZ Sports that BIG3 doesn’t have room for you.”
BIG3 noted in its state- ment that, “Such changes are being implemented to maxi- mize competition, protect the health of players, and to raise the level of the professional- ism of the BIG3.”
Odom, who nearly died of a drug overdose back in 2015, posted a lengthy statement on his official Instagram account on Friday, explaining that he found out through the media about being cut from the league.
“I respect @icecube & the other league executives, how- ever, I am extremely disap- pointed with the way that this has been handled,” he said.

  Won't Stop
Fighting For Equality
 Anytime Soon
In the event you thought Serena Williams was going to do the tennis equivalent of "shut up and dribble" the 37- year-old athlete told her naysayers not to hold their breath.
Thirty-nine time Grand Slam champion Billie Jean King recently commented on Williams' conduct off the tennis court and said: "Quite frankly if I were Serena, I would give up being a celebrity for a year and a half if she wants to win titles."
"I don't know what she wants. No more Met Galas. Just stop all this insanity be- cause she is trying to be everything,” King said.
"She’s got business, a baby, she’s trying to help gen- der equity, particularly for women of color. It makes it much harder. I would like her to put everything else aside because she's got people working on those things.”
Following Williams 6-2, 6-2 defeat against Simona
SERENA WILLIAMS Halep, a reporter asked
Williams how she felt about King's comments, and Williams boldly said she won't stop advocating for the disenfranchised anytime soon.
“The day I stop fighting for equality and for people that look like you and me will be the day I'm in my grave.”
Sounds like Ms. Williams will be fighting both on and off the court for a little while longer.
