AIKENS
MRS. ERNESTINE TURNER
A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Ernestine Turner of Tampa, Florida, who passed away, Monday, July 8, 2019, will be held on Tuesday, July 16th, 2 p. m. at First Baptist Church of Progress Village, 8722 Progress Blvd., Rev. Dr. Samuel L. Maxwell, Senior Pas- tor, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ernestine Turner was born on June 1, 1930 in Tampa, FL to the late Mattie Williams- Lank- ford and the late Homer (Katie) Bell. She was married to Stanley Turner who also pre- ceded her in death. Mrs. Ernes- tine Bell Turner “Honey” died peacefully in Fayetteville, Georgia at the age of 89.
She was preceded in death by: 1 brother, Andrew Bell, Sr. and sister-in-law, Rilla May Bell; brother-in-law, Willie B. Langston; and 3 sisters, Mary Darby, Barbara Bell and Gloria Johnson; daughters, Marilyn Bell McCray and Gwendolyn Ealy; sons-in-law, George Mc- Cray and Lawrence Ealy; and grandchildren, Renita Ealy, and George McCray, III.
Ernestine accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of First Baptist Church of Progress Village, where she served on the Senior

Mr. George Jones of Temple Terrace passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 19, at 2 p. m. at Ray Williams Memo- rial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Av- enue, with Pastor Antonio Pringley, officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Hill Ceme- tery.
Mr. George Jones was a na- tive of St. Augustine, Florida and a resident of the Tampa Bay Area for 66 years. He was educated in the public schools of St. John’s County. Mr. Jones was employed with the International Long- shoreman Association, Local 1402 and 1759 for 52 years.
After his retirement, George loved to go to the Union Hall and surround himself with other re- tirees, who were playing domi- nos, laughing and joking and sometimes having cookouts. He was a very soft spoken person; he was loved by many people and would always put a smile on your face or laugh in your heart.
George was affectionately known as “Porgie Boy” by his son, Re’Sha. He will truly be missed by his family and all of his friends.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Oscar Jones; mother, Annie Bell Jones; brother, Nathaniel Jones; along with a host of other relatives.
He leaves to cherish his mem- ory: two sons, Re’Sha Jones and Basilio Jones; a very devoted and caring friend, Elizabeth Jones and Helen King; sister, Adelle; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Jerry), Linda, Kayvette and Betty; brother-in-law, Dexter (Beverly); nieces, Geraldine (Cato), Shanti (Cedrick), Porscha, Ebony (Jay), Chantal (Michael), Rachelle, Nikia, Nakisha, Jessica (Dre), Brittany, Alesia and Jasmine; nephews, Earl, Jr., Darrick, Michael, Antonio, Rashad, Tyree, David, Marquis, Kevin, Mariom, Joshua, Darius and Frederick; and a host of other sorrowing rel- atives and friends to include, “Tall Man.”
The remains will repose from 4 to 7 p. m., Thursday, July 18 at Ray Williams Funeral Home.

An unidentified man was killed early Saturday at a house party in Brandon. The incident took place shortly after midnight.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home on Red Fox Lane. When they arrived, they dis- covered a man was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was transported to Tampa Gen- eral Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police have not released any information about the victim.
Detectives believe the
home was being rented as an Airbnd. There was a party at the location. When detec- tives arrived, they learned that the victim had gotten into an argument with an- other man. At some point shots were fired and the vic- tim was fatally wounded.

Usher Board. She was a dedi- cated Christian who loved the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She graduated from the public schools of Hillsborough County in Tampa, Florida, where she began working for Morrison Cafeteria as a baker prior to working for Hillsborough County Public Schools as a school bus driver, where she re- tired after 22 years of service. She was a member of the “Princesonettes and the Red Hatter’s”.
Ernestine blessed this earth with 8 children. Her children remember her as a driven mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She is sur- vived by: children, Berthenia (Otis) Lamb, Fort Worth, TX; Robert (Loretta) Bell, Sacra- mento, CA; Donald (Mary Ann) Simmons, Dallas, TX; Ernest (Sylvia) Jones, Marietta, GA; Veronica Jones (Larry) John- son, Fayetteville, GA and Michael (Sharlene) Jones, Den- ton, TX; 6 stepchildren, Essic Turner, Charlotte (Lawrence) Mathis, Larry Turner, Cheryl Turner, Carolyn Turner and Eu- genia Turner.
Ernestine loved and cher- ished her grandchildren, James (Jimmy) Williams, Linda Ealy, Patricia Ealy, Ernest Jones, Jr., Erin Ramsay, Michael Bell, Marilyn Goldwire, Donald Sim- mons, Jr., Asa Simmons, Bre- anna Jones, Kiara Jones, Jolisa Jones and Sydney Johnson; sis- ters, Minne Langston, Tampa, FL and Wilma Shivers, Los An- geles, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; good friends, Juanita Banks and Mary Reid of Tampa, and her goddaughter, Kathy Miller.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Mon- day,July15thfrom5to7p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p. m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service on Tues- day.
