Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, a brand honoring Nearest Green, the enslaved distiller who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey, announced the creation of a $50 million venture fund to in- vest in spirit brands owned by people of color.
The fastest growing whiskey brand in the country is helping to support other BIPOC- and female-owned spirit brands trying to create their own space and legacies in a white- dominated industry. CEO Fawn Weaver, who started Uncle Nearest in 2017, made the announcement on the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre.
was wiped out in a matter of hours. We are talking about 35 square blocks known as Black Wall Street,” Weaver said in a press release. “As an African American, learning about that history broke my heart be- cause we, as a people, were re- ally onto something in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We were lifting one another up and creating wealth within our own community, and then showing others how to do it for themselves. We cannot go back and undo the past, but I do believe we have full power over our future, and that re-creating a Black Wall Street of sorts within the spir- its industry is a great place to start.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now a family of four! The Duchess of Sussex welcomed the couple's second child — a baby girl — on Friday.

“Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7

Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grand- mother, The Princess of Wales."
"This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mount- batten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this spe- cial time as a family."

Black Woman Obtains Law Degree 20 Years After Being Rejected From Countless Schools
A year ago Amber Good- win hoped her ancestors were proud that she pursued her law degree. Now days away from walking the stage at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Min- nesota.
“Sorry not sorry in advance for all the law graduation photos y’all are about to get,” wrote in a Twitter post.
Two decades ago Good- win was pursuing her dream of attending law school, but she was rejected from over ten schools. Goodwin’s passion to fight for justice would not let her dream go away. Then at 39 she started applying again.

“My mentality was: I’m going to keep applying places
and they have to tell me no,” Goodwin told “Good Morn- ing America.” Her unwaver- ing belief in herself helped guide her to Mitchell Ham- line. Now, at the age of 41, Goodwin is marking the milestone by inspiring others to have that same relentless pursuit of their dreams, even when they think they have aged out of possibilities.
“I’m 41, never been mar- ried, have no kids, and most days society refuses to cele- brate people like me. It’s been a very rough year but this is a bright spot for many of us. It was all worth it,” wrote Goodwin on social media.
