Healthcare Assessment Meeting
Mr. Roy Brady of Legacy Consulting Group met with members of Progress Village Community to collect ideas and opinions from the participants for the betterment of the com- munity and the city as a whole.
They met at St. James A. M. E. Church in Progress Village on Monday, December 7, 2015.

Farm Share Feeding Families
On Saturday, December 13 at St. John Progressive AME Churchfrom9a.m.–1p.m.,
Rep. Ed Narain and The 100 Black Women of Tampa coordi- nated a feeding of 1,000 families with free fresh groceries.
The vendors present were: The Tampa Health Center which provided free basic health screenings including dental, af- fordable healthcare for Hillsbor- ough County Health Insurance.
Screenings for cholesterol and high blood pressure were conducted by a doctor who was on site.

Chair. of East Tampa, Ms. Evangeline Best was in atten- dance explaining their commis- sion is about revitalization and economic development in the community. This covers the area from I-4 to E. Hillsborough and from 56th Street to I-275, 7 miles radius and 18 neighbor- hoods.
Bay Care of St. Joseph’s Chil- dren’s Hospital gave out free bike helmets for children, who were there with their parents/guardians.
Supervisor of Elections ta- bles were there for Voter’s Reg- istration.
The Children’s Board Family Resource Centers gave out 2016 Family Guide Booklets and in- formation on CPR Classes, Mar- ketplace information.
Rev. Jerry G. Nealy’s table was set up with information about The Rights Restoration Campaign, which is a joint proj- ect by NAACP, ACLU, The Cen- tral Labor Counsel and Faith Communities.
Volunteers lending a helping hand was The Captain, De- wayne of Rep. Ed Narain’s Office, who coordinated the vol- unteers from: Kappa League of Tampa, Kappa Alpha Psi Frater- nity, 100 Black Women of Tampa Bay, Sal’s Soldiers, Kayla Porter, Gloria Mc- Nair, Luvator Henry Nel- son, and Margaret Brown. Security was by the Tampa Po- lice Department, Earl Pendle- ton, J. R. Cochran and Ruben Kyle.
We thank all who partici- pated, it was a big success! Thanks again to Farm Share who supplied the food!
Thank you to the many other volunteers not mentioned in this column, but were essential elements for the success of this venture.

Christmas Dinner
Our honoree, Ms. Aritha Scott, who initiated the Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner 30 years ago, blessed us with her presence at the banquet on Sun- day, December 13 at 2 p. m. at the Progress Village Rec Center.
Those on the program were:
Crystal Larry, Jackie Mix, Darlene Thompkins, Pastor Sheppard, Min. Isaac Ruf- fin, LaVyonne Culbreath, Delaney Pittman, Mary Hobley, Beverly Eubanks, Beverly Webb, and Linda Washington, President of Civic Council gave final words and prayer.
Many Villagers were there to enjoy this social family time. Dinner and desserts were deli- cious and door prizes were given out. Thanks to all the volun- teers, who helped make this a big success!
