Little Ceasars Founder Dies; Good Deed To Rosa Parks Revealed
DETROIT, MI —- Last Fri- day at the age of 87, self-made billionaire Michael "Mike" Ilitch died at a Detroit Hospi- tal.
In the days since his death it has been revealed that, in ad- dition to his successful busi- ness ventures as founder of Little Caesars Pizza, owner of the Detroit Red Wings hockey team, and the Detroit Tigers Major league baseball team, the American business mag- nate was also a 'good samari- tan,' discreetly paying monthly rent for Civil Rights pioneer, Rosa Parks.
In a recently resurfaced 2014 article featured in Sports Busi- ness Daily, Detroit judge, Damon Keith told the story of how Ilitch came to the aid of Parks, then 81, after she was robbed and assaulted in her Detroit city home.

College Student Continuing To Research His Breakthrough In The Cure For Colon Cancer
Keven Stonewall discovered a major breakthrough towards a cure for colon cancer while in high school.
know what Mr. Mike Ilitch did for Ms. Rosa Parks be- cause it’s symbolic of what he has always done for the people of our city,” said Judge Keith.
After reading about the 1994 assault, Ilitch reached out to
Judge Keith who served as the executor of the trust estab- lished for Parks housing and offered to pay Parks’ rent for as long as necessary.
He kept his word, paying her monthly rent for a decade until Parks passed away in 2005.
When Keven Stonewall was in the fifth grade, he re- ceived four microscopes for Christmas from his parents. They did not realize then that his interest in biology would eventually lead him to dis- cover a major breakthrough in the cure for colon cancer.
Colon cancer is the third most common cancer among African American men and women, according to The Cancer Prevention Founda- tion. They also have the high- est death rates from the disease.
It was during his last year of high school working at a Rush University lab that Keven found a critical age- related drawback in an exper- imental vaccine aimed at preventing colon cancer in mice.
The experiment helped sci- entists realize that they needed a special vaccine for
older subjects, according to his lab director at Rush Uni- versity, Carl Ruby.
Keven's research earned him numerous awards. The results of his research were even presented at the na- tional meeting for the Society for ImmunoTherapy of Can- cer in Washington, D.C., and credit was given to Keven for his lead in the research.
Keven is now a sophomore and biomedical engineering major at the University of Wisconsin Madison where he continues his colon cancer re- search.
With plans to become an oncologist and earn both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, he comments, “I don’t want to only focus on colon cancer. I have a bigger picture in mind. I want to cure cancer, and the more informed I am, the bet- ter physician I’ll be.”
