Kings Waive Matt Barnes
Trade Rumors May Come True For NY Knick Derrick Rose
Derrick Rose will know by today (Thursday) if he will be with a new team.
Derrick Rose remains the primary subject of NBA trade rumors as the Feb. 23 deadline steadily approaches.
It is being reported that the New York Knicks are looking to move the former MVP point guard. Several teams, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, have drafted up scenarios of a potential Ricky Rubio for Rose swap.
Rose is currently averaging 17 points, four assists per game, and remained relatively healthy this season, with the exception of missing a match for a family emergency. The 28-year-old also has a trade-friendly con- tract, which expires at the end of the season.
You Can Now Live Stream Major League Baseball Games On Facebook
If you don’t have access to a television this baseball season you could still be in luck, as the MLB reportedly will live- stream one game per week on Facebook for the 2017 season, according to Reuters. Live- streaming games will always be crucial, as sports are some of the last events people still want to witness in real time.
Facebook is aggressively going after sports content and they are now one of a number of competitors to traditional media outlets that are going after sports programming,” says media consultant Lee Berke. “It makes perfect sense that they would be going after name brand properties like the MLB.”
It is still unclear exactly which games will be available on the social media platform. One thing is for sure, this will definitely broaden the audience of baseball and give the MLB access to a younger demo- graphic, which it desperately needs to reconnect with.

The Sacramento Kings have waived veteran forward Matt Barnes to create the neces- sary roster room to complete their DeMarcus Cousins trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, general manager Vlade Divac announced Monday.
The Kings released Barnes because they needed an extra roster spot so they could take in the three players they are acquiring from the Pelicans in the Cousins deal: Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans and Langston Galloway.

out with former ‘Basketball Wives’ spouse, Gloria Govan. Govan is now dating former New York Knicks coach, Derek Fisher. Barnes allegedly got into an altercation with Fisher over the relationship.
While the sports world was focused on New Orleans be- cause of the NBA All-Star Weekend, 4 historically black colleges and univer- sities’ (HBCUs) baseball teams played in a unique tournament with the help of Major League Baseball.
The round-robin tourna- ment was held Friday to Sun- day and highlighted the baseball programs and ef- forts to increase African- American participation in baseball.

New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett had a heck of a 2016 season. He recorded 55 receptions for 701 yards and seven touchdowns.
It was a huge boost for New England after the team ac- quired Bennett from the Chicago Bears last offseason. It also came at a time when the eventual Super Bowl champs needed someone to step up in Rob Gronkowski’s stead.
Now set to become a free agent, Bennett is looking to cash in. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the tight end is expected to test free agency next month.
This seems to be a sign that the two sides won’t be able to come to terms on a new con- tract before free agency itself starts. It also comes after
corn State.
MARTELLUS BENNETT Bennett himself seemed to
suggest that remaining in New England over the long term might be best for his career (more on that here).
Bennett, 29, should be in line for a raise from the $5.2 million he earned this past season. With the Pats set to pay Gronkowski $6.8 mil- lion in 2017, it seems logical that the team might simply let Bennett walk.
commemoration of Black History Month.
This year’s tournament featured eight members of the Chicago White Sox Ama- teur City Elite program, a special initiative that sup- ports quality baseball in- struction for the city’s inner-city players.
MLB’s youth initiatives were well-represented at the Urban Invitational as 12 play- ers on this year’s rosters are alumni of MLB Youth Acade- mies, RBI programs or MLB Development Camps, such as the Breakthrough Series.
Two years ago, Earl Burl, III, who played at Alcorn State, was the first player to be drafted out of the New Or- leans MLB Youth Academy.
In the 2016 draft, Tyree Thompson became the sec- ond player to be drafted out of the New Orleans Academy.
Panthers Release Mike Tolbert, Paul Soliai
The Carolina Panthers on Tuesday released three-time Pro Bowl fullback Mike Tol- bert, clearing $1,725,000 in salary cap space.
The team also announced it has released 2011 Pro Bowl de- fensive tackle Paul Soliai, which will save an additional $2,218,750 in salary-cap space.
Tolbert, 31, last offseason signed a two-year, $3.3 million deal with $700,000 guaran- teed. Statistically he had one of his worst seasons, rushing 35 times for 114 yards and no touchdowns and catching 10 passes for 72 yards and one touchdown.
Tolbert came to Carolina from San Diego in 2012. He made the Pro Bowl in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
"I feel very fortunate to have coached Mike for nearly his entire career," said coach Ron

Rivera, who also was with Tolbert in San Diego from 2008 to 2010. "He was some- one we targeted in 2012 be- cause we felt he would be a good addition to our offense and he was very productive for us. He brought great energy and leadership to our locker room and I wish him the best."
Mike Tolbert was selected for the Pro Bowl three times with the Panthers after joining the team in 2012.
