Man Found On
Rapper Escapes Injury, Three People Killed In Atlanta Shooting
Front Porch Dies
Of Gunshot Wound
An East Tampa resident called 9-1-1 last week after find- ing an injured stranger on the front porch. The 40-year-old Tampa man died as a result of his injuries.
According to the Tampa Po- lice Department, police re- sponded to the 2100 block of E. 29th Avenue, shortly after 1 a.m., last Wednesday. When they ar- rived, they discovered the victim was suffering from a gunshot wound. Fire Rescue responded to the scene, but the victim died at the scene.
Detectives have not identified the victim. However, they are continuing to gather information and are asking anyone with in- formation to contact Crime Stop- pers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS or online at www.crimestopperstb.com.
The murder victim has been identified by his daughter, Ms. Brianna Brown Harrison, as Willie James Brown, Jr., who was also known as “Jack.”
Ms. Harrison is asking anyone in the community with information to contact the Tampa Police Department.

During the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5th, the ve- hicle of a popular rapper was riddled with bullets. The inci- dent was one of several that took place in Atlanta.
Rapper Plies dodged the bullets and escaped injury. The shooting took place in the 400 block of Edgewood in Southeast Atlanta.
According to police, the shooting took place after a man was confronted about talking with another man’s girlfriend. Several people reportedly at- tempted to pull the gun from the hand of the shooter and it dis- charged.
The victim was transported to a local hospital after being shot in the arm.

both his native hometown and Hillsborough County. At the time of his death, Mr. Brown was employed at Staffsource.
He enjoyed life, spending time with his family, and was known for his taste in clothing. He also loved to dance.
In addition to his daughter, Mr. Brown is survived by other children, his mother, two grand- mothers, and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held on Saturday. Holmes Funeral Home is in charge of handling arrange- ments. (See funeral page).

Other Shootings
The violence continued when around 11:30 p.m., Satur- day, another shooting took place in the 1500 block of Hardee Street in Northeast Atlanta. When police arrived, they dis- covered a man and woman had both been injured by gunfire. However, both refused to coop- erate with police.
A short time later, police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Lakewood Avenue in reference to shots fired. The pre-
liminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect drove by and shot several times at a group of people standing around on the street. Five people were injured by gunfire.
Police responded to the 200 block of Auburn Avenue around 1 a.m., Sunday, in reference to another shooting. In this inci- dent a person was struck by a car and a fight broke out.
A total of 14 people suffered from gunshot wounds. Two of the individuals died. The other 12 were listed in stable condition after being taken to local hospi- tals.
The last shooting of the weekend took place on Etheridge Drive and 7th Street in Northeast Atlanta. Police said the victim, who was shot in the leg, refused to talk to police.

Courthouse Guards
A 25-year-old man was ar- rested Monday after a fight with security guards at the George Edgecomb Courthouse, 800 E. Twiggs Street, in downtown Tampa. He reportedly punched three security guards before being taken into custody.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 4 p.m., Quantez Ray Nathaniel entered the se- cured screening section of the building. He was asked to leave after he did not have a legitimate reason for being there and be- cause of the COVID-19 pan- demic.
Nathaniel is said to have re- fused to leave and the security of- ficer was forced to block him at the magnetometer. Nathaniel became violent, reportedly strik- ing the guard with a closed fist. He reportedly punched two other guards before they were able to

gain control of him.
Nathaniel was arrested by a
Hillsborough County Deputy on site and transported to jail with- out further incident. He was charged with three counts of bat- tery on a licensed security officer.
Nathaniel was not injured. The three security guards suf- fered minor injuries.
