Derrick Todd Lee’s cause of death was not immediately re- leased. The 47-year-old was moved from the Louisiana State Penitentiary’s death row to a hospital Saturday for unknown medical reasons.
Lee — who was connected to seven murders between 1998 and 2003 in Baton Rouge and Lafayette — appealed his death sentence earlier this year. The Louisiana Supreme Court re- jected his bid in September, put- ting him one step closer to execution.
Lee was convicted for the murders of 2 women, Randi Mebruer and Connie

Warner. Authorities suspect Lee killed five other women — Trineisha Dené Colomb, Randi Mebruer, Pam Ki- namore, Carrie Lynn Yoder and Gina Wilson Green — be- tween 1998 and 2003, but he was never tried in those cases.
SAN ANTONIO, TX --- San Antonio, Texas, police say they vow to thoroughly investigate the shooting death of an unarmed Black man who was shot and killed by cops.
Police say that Antronie Scott, 36, was spotted on early Friday morning by undercover detectives and fatally shot as he exited a vehicle in an apartment complex on San Antonio’s North Side.
Scott was wanted on two felony warrants for gun and drug possession. Detectives who had been tracking him said they ra- dioed a uniformed officer to pull him over.
Police say that when 11-year- veteran John Lee approached his car, Scott got out and al- legedly spun toward him.
Audio from the incident con-
firms that Lee shouted, “Show me your hands,” but discharged a shot seconds after the last word came out.
Scott’s family members made their first public appearance Sat- urday as community leaders of- fered their support and some called for justice for the unarmed man who was shot to death by an officer.
San Antonio Mayor Ivy Tay- lor announced Friday night that she had met with McManus after concerns were brought to him by both the NAACP and the Baptist Ministers’ Union in re- sponse to the shooting.
“The chief assures us that a full investigation is already underway by the Internal Affairs Unit and that the shooting will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office,” Taylor said in a statement.
