$800 Million Is Up For Grabs:
Small, Minority, Women-Owned Businesses Invited To Apply For Road Construction
Hillsborough County has a lot of road work to do, and it wants small businesses and minority- and women-owned businesses to help get the job done. Hillsborough County’s “Road to Success II’’ event on Wednesday, May 9, is aimed at small businesses and busi- nesses owned by minorities and women who want to apply for road construction and maintenance contracts or other road-related work like landscaping or installing traffic signals.
The event is from 1-4 p. m. on Wednesday, May 9 at the Bryan Glazer Family Jewish Community Center, 522 N. Howard Ave., Tampa.
Those attending the free event can get information about opportunities to bid for government transportation projects, network with busi- nesses, contractors and sub- contractors, and speak with representatives from public agencies, including Hillsbor- ough County, the Tampa- Hillsborough Expressway
Authority (THEA), and the Florida Department of Trans- portation. They also will learn about government agency requirements that businesses must meet to bid on contracts and become cer- tified as a minority or small business.
Hillsborough County plans to spend $800 million on road projects in the next decade, including the widen- ing of Bell Shoals Road in Valrico and extending Citrus Park Drive. Additional infor- mation about these projects is available on HCFLGov.net/ countyprojects.
