James Comey Testifies Today: Former FBI Director Asked Attorney General Not To Leave Him Alone With Trump
Michelle Obama Makes Rare Appearance At Apple Conference
According to the New York Times, the day after Presi- dent Trump asked James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, to end an investigation into his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, Mr. Comey confronted At- torney General Jeff Ses- sions and said he did not want to be left alone again with the president, according to current and former law en- forcement officials.
According to Comey’s clos- est advisers, he believed Mr. Sessions should protect the F.B.I. from White House in- fluence.
Comey pulled Sessions aside after a meeting in Feb- ruary to tell him that private interactions between the F.B.I. director and the presi-

dent were inappropriate. But Mr. Sessions could not guarantee Mr. Comey his request, the officials said.
By the time Mr. Trump fired Mr. Comey last month, Mr. Comey had disclosed his meeting with President Trump to a few of his closest advisers in a detailed memo, but nobody at the Justice De- partment, according to the of- ficials.
Mr. Comey is testifying today (Thursday) before the Senate Intelligence Commit- tee, where he is expected to be quizzed intensely about his in- teractions with Mr. Trump and why he decided to keep secret the president’s request to end the Michael Flynn in- vestigation.
Former FLOTUS Michelle Obama spoke at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference; is introduced by Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Former first lady Michelle Obama graced the stage on Tuesday morning in San Jose, California at Apple’s World- wide Developers Conference, alongside Apple CEO Tim Cook, according to NBC Bay Area.
Closed to non-attendees, Cook announced the surprise visit and “fireside chat” with Mrs. Obama at the end of his keynote address on Mon- day.
Mrs. Obama shed some light on life after the White House — and dropped some pearls of wisdom — on Tues- day to thousands of computer programmers.
While the event was closed to the press, the techies in at- tendance made sure to live stream the event on Periscope and took to Twitter to share some of what Mrs. Obama had to say.
Speaking of life after the White House, Mrs. Obama said she is enjoying "just being
able to sit calmly and listen," recalling what it was like to spend some time in a Tuscan villa where there was no noise.
There are also simple joys she now gets to experience, like answering the door at the home the Obamas moved into in Washington, D. C.
But of course, the former FLOTUS was also there to provide some inspiration at the event designed to fire up developers to create applica- tions for Apple products.
And those experiences might not always be about money or scale, Obama said, telling de- velopers that sometimes the most powerful things "are at a small and local level.”
She encouraged developers to think about their "higher purpose" at a time when she said "committed problem solvers" are needed more than ever.
That also includes making room at the table for more di- verse voices, she said.
