Kevin Durant may be wearing a Warriors uniform these days, but he wrote a check for an Oklahoma City charity.
Kevin Durant may be wearing a Golden State War- riors uniform these days, but he hasn't forgotten all of the connections he made in Okla- homa City.
Durant's charity founda- tion donated $57,000 to help Positive Tomorrows, Okla- homa City's school for home- less children. The grant will be used to purchase land to build a new school.
Durant left Oklahoma City in July, after spending eight years in the city as a perennial All-Star with the Thunder.
He had maintained a close relationship with Positive To- morrows during his time in Oklahoma City. He delivered shoes to children at Christ- mas, funded a summer break camp program and paid for a new kitchen and cafeteria for the school.
Durant has said the plight of homeless children is close to his heart.

Earlier this week, a former Tampa resident earned the rating of “ASUN Confer- ence Player of the Week.” This is the first time this honor has been bestowed upon her.
Ms. Brandi Buie, is a jun- ior guard at the University of Jacksonville. During the con- ference, she averaged 22.0 PPG (points per game) and 6.5 RPG, leading the Dolphins to a undefeated week.
She started the week with 17 points and 6 boards against Johnson & Wales University. Then a high of 27 points, re- sulted in the Dolphins’ defeat of Troy University, 77-70. who is rated 7th in the mid-major poll. She also added 7 assists and 5 total steals in both games combined, and com- bined to shoot 61.5 percent from the floor, including a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc.
Ms. Buie is credited with helping her team score 110 points, the most in a single game in the history of the pro- gram, to defeat Johnson & Wales.
A Tampa native, Ms. Buie is the daughter of Ms. An- dria Starling and Kenneth Buie.
She began her education in the Hillsborough County School District. But moved to Atlanta as a teenager with her mother. The young lady grad- uated from Randolph-Clay High School and earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Jacksonville.
Her father said the 20-year- old began playing basketball in the AAU in Tampa at the age of 10.
“She went to King’s Kids, then St. Peter Claver Catholic School, and she sang in the choir at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. I’m really proud of her,” Buie said.
NBA Tags John Legend For All-Star Half-Time Show
John Legend ended 2016 on a high-note with the re- lease of his fifth studio LP Darkness and Lights (Dec. 2). 2017 won’t be starting off too bad for the 10-time Grammy Award winner either as he’ll be headlining the 2017 NBA All-Star Game halftime show on February 19th in New Or- leans, Louisiana.
This announcement comes one year after the league backed the game out of North Carolina, amidst objections to
JOHN LEGEND
House Bill 2, which limits anti-discrimination protec- tions for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the state.
Lamar Odom To Star In
New Reality Series
About His Recovery
LAMAR ODOM
Lamar Odom’s basket- ball career may be over, but his foray into reality televi- sion isn’t. According to Peo- ple magazine, Odom is set to star in his own reality TV se- ries.
“The show will be about his life, recovery—all about him,” a source told People.
Odom, who checked him- self into rehab Tuesday, has tried rehab several times, and Tuesday’s check-in was trig-
gered by the anniversary of his son’s death. The soon-to- be ex-husband of Khloé Kardashian has been bat- tling a drug addiction since his son died of sudden infant death syndrome several years ago.
“He wants to stay clear and focused. With the divorce from Khloé being finalized and the holidays coming up, he doesn’t want to slip up. He’s trying to take care of himself. He really wants to be better,” the source said. “His friends and family encour- aged him to go in, and he agreed and made the deci- sion.”
In 2015, Odom had a near-fatal drug overdose at a brothel in Las Vegas. Since his recovery, he’s maintained a low profile in Los Angeles, but that could change when he heads back to reality TV.
