BOYD
ELDER GERALD W. SHIPMAN
Services for Elder Gerald W. Shipman will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10 a. m. at Mt. Hermon Church, 2856 Douglas Ave., Ft. Myers, FL 33916.
Elder Gerald W. Shipman was born on April 15, 1956 in Tampa, Florida. Gerald was the only child of the late Ms. Vera Mae Prince and Paul Shipman. He attended St. Peter Claver, Tampa Catholic High School and furthered his education at Temple Uni- versity.
He was employed by Blue- bird Taxi, Yellow Cab and Checker 24/7 Airport Trans- portation.
He was united in marriage to Connie Daugherty Ship- man on July 10, 1995.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Hermon Ministries. He graduated from Life Chris- tian University in 2010 and was ordained on August 2, 2015 by his Pastor, Dr. William L. Glover and Pastor Cheryl Glover.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Connie Shipman and a daughter, Evon Jackson; aunts, Betty Glenn, Eartha Thomas (Dennis), Thelma Stafford, Patricia Johnson (Arthur), and Sharon Canty (Lenzo); uncles, Arnold Fields (Hazel) and Robert Fields; grandchildren, great- grandchildren and a host of cousins.
The family has entrusted James E. Boyd Funeral Home for arrangements.

MS. LORETTA RENEE MACK
A homegoing celebration for Ms. Loretta Renee Mack of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, will be held on Saturday, December 17th, 2 p. m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Rev. Dr. S. Evan Burrows, pastor, officiat- ing. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Loretta Renee Mack quietly transitioned to her heavenly home. The Lord wrapped His arms of love around her and lifted her to rest. For we find comfort in God’s decision.
A native of Tampa, Loretta at- tended Hillsborough County Public Schools and also worked for the Hillsborough County School System. Ms. Mack was af- fectionately known in her com- munity and would always make you smile when you saw her. She was a lady with a big heart. Those who knew her will always love her because she touched so many hearts.
Loretta Mack was preceded in death by: her father, Arthur Mack, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories with: a lovely mother, Rosa Mack; 7 caring children, Valecia Bowles-North (Bran- don), Norlicia Bowles, Jalissa Bowles, Noah Bowles (Dougie), Isaiah Bowles, Shanequa Bowles and Candice Bowles; 1 devoted brother, Arthur Mack; 4 grand- children, Brandon North, Jr., Rodney Germain, Jr., Sy’rai Bowles and Galvin Bowles; nephew, Christopher Mack; close cousin, Sheryl Hart; special friends, Lucielle and Cookie; and a host of aunts, uncles, other rel- atives and friends.

MRS. CLAUDIA MAE MITCHELL PADGETT
Mrs. Claudia Mae Mitchell Padgett, the matriarch of her family, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. The homegoing celebra- tion will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016, 11 a. m. at New St. Paul AME Church, 4603 N. 42nd Street, Rev. Karen J. Sims, pastor, eulogist and Rev. James Crews, offici- ating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Claudia was affectionately known as “Mamae, Mama P, Ms. P, and Cat-chicken.” Claudia was the second child born on June 25, 1928 in Knight’s, FL, to the late Rev. Samuel and Pearlie Mae Mitchell. She was baptized at Mt. Carmel MB Church, Knight’s, FL. She attended the public schools of Hillsbor- ough County.
On April 13, 1956, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Rev. Benjamin O. Pad- gett, Sr. Claudia attended Hillsborough Community Col- lege, where she obtained her floristry license and opened Claudia’s Flowers. She also worked as a housekeeper at Padgett’s Boarding Home and was a well-known seamstress. Claudia was active with the local, district, and conference Women’s Missionary Society and the Lay Organization.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; mother-in-law, Susie M. Pad- gett; step-daughter, Susie Lewis; siblings, Ruby L. Davis, Jesse Keys, Naomi, Hayward, Leroy, Sam Jr., and Clarence Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish pre- cious memories with: her brother, Leonard Mitchell (Thelma) Mulberry, FL; raised as a sister, Twanda An- drades, Plant City; children, Vivian M. Fisher, Syracuse, NY, Rev. Cora P. Laster, William G. Mitchell, Syracuse, NY, James D. Padgett, Lemuel A. Padgett (Elfreda); step- sons, Rev. Benjamin O. Pad- gett, Jr., Atlanta, GA, and Tyronne G. Padgett; 15 grand- children; 3 special grandsons, Marcell A. Fisher, New Or- leans, LA, Donnell S. Fisher (Shonnice), Plant City and Edgarlee O. Laster and fi- ancée, Kristina; 10 great- grandchildren; 3 sisters- in-law, Levoida Mitchell, Mary Padgett and Tyree Padgett; 1 brother-in-law, Rubin E. Pad- gett; godchildren, Henry Gray and Sherlyn Williams; a host of other family; the church family and friends.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 16th, from 5 to 8 p. m. The family will re- ceive friends from 7 to 8 p. m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Sat- urday for the service.
MR. JEROME C. SMITH
A homegoing and memo- rial celebration for Mr. Jerome C. Smith of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 will be held Saturday, Decem- ber 17, 2 p. m. at Aikens Fu- neral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Pastor Diane White- hurst, officiating. The inter- ment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Mr. Smith was born in Brooksville, FL and graduated from Frank W. Springstead High School, but most of his life was spent as a resident of Tampa. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1982- 1987. He worked over 25 years in the Metal Fabricating Industry, and at the time of his death he was an employee at Kloeckner Metals. He en- joyed reading, playing chess, fishing, watching wrestling and football.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Deacon Charlie (Red) Rogers and daughter, Baby Cassandra.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories with: his loving and devoted wife, Ra- mona Thornton Smith; loving mother, Arnetha Smith; step- mother, Annie Lee Rogers; 9 children, Corbin Nottingham, Jerome R. Bass, James Thornton, Raymond Thorn- ton, Philip Thornton, Angela Thornton, David Thornton, Anthony Thornton and Markus Raines; 19 grandchil- dren; 1 great-grandchild; 6 brothers, Rodney Smith (An- drea), Lee Arthur Smith, Brian Smith, Sr. (Denise), Martin Smith (Quiana), Kevin Smith, Justin Smith and Elder Sonny Gill (Fredricka); sister, Jurleen Jones; aunts, Carolyn Gilmore (John), Willie Jean Roach, Jurleen Jones, Alice Faye and Gladys Wright; uncle, Larry Jones (Hy- acinth); special friends, Rusty Williams, Josh Merle, Wayne Galarza, Wayne A., Tom B., Sheldon and Kevin. A homegoing celebration for Mr. Raymond L. Washington of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 will be held on Saturday, Decem- ber 17th, 11 a. m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Rev. Dr. S. Evan Bur- rows, pastor officiating. The in- terment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Raymond was born on January 11, 1952 in Palmetto, Florida to the late Joseph Washington and Inez Johnson. He was a graduate of Manatee High School class of 1970.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Luther and Inez Ware and Joseph Washington and brother, Jody Washington.
He leaves to cherish his mem- ories with: his loving and de- voted wife of 37 years, Paulette Washington; three daughters, Shenell Maye (Johnathan), Rae- quel Majeski (John) and Nickie Mann (Terry); grandchildren, Thaddeuss, Raven, Jaelyn, Thailin, Lauryn and Wade; one sister, Delorise Mitchell (Benny); five brothers, Stan Washington (Karyn), AL Wash- ington (Monica), Larry Washing- ton (Linda), Wayne Washington (Cynthia) and Cedric Washing- ton; sisters-in-law, Leila Wash- ington and Beverly Griffin; brother-in-law, Raymond Gads- den, (Willene); aunt, Rosetta Johnson; uncles, Carmen John- son (Phyllis), Sylvester Johnson and Roosevelt Johnson; and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
