DAMANI MATTHEWS
A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempting to kidnap a tourist. The incident took place at the Orlando Airport last weekend.
The unidentified tourist told police that she had gone in a restroom at the Hyatt Re- gency inside the airport.
The 30-year-old victim said she was leaving the bath- room stall to wash her hands when she observed a man be- hind her in the mirror. The man was reportedly holding a knife. He is said to have placed the woman in a choke- hold and attempted to drag her into another stall. During the attack, she received a 3” cut on her hand, which was consistent with a knife wound, police said.
She was able to break free of the chokehold and run to a nearby restaurant, where em- ployees called the police.
The man, identified as Damani Matthews, was detained by security officers as he left the bathroom.
Matthews was charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted robbery and at- tempted battery with a weapon. He was transported to the Orange County Jail, where he was being held without bond.

Judge Sentences
The Denver Broncos have agreed to send a significant package of players and draft picks to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for Super Bowl-win- ning quarterback Russell Wil- son. Sports critics around the league are saying," What the hell are the Seahawks thinking. This is a bad move. The Seahawks traded the superstar quarterback away for practically nothing."

Wilson still has to agree on the trade.
A judge sentenced a Tampa man to serve time in federal prison last week. He was charged with trafficking in cocaine fentanyl, and mar- ijuana.
Judge Kathryn Kim- ball Mizelle handed down a sentence of 9 years to Ray- mond Malara, 38, and the Court also ordered Malara to forfeit $37,820, which is traceable to proceeds of the offense. Malara had pleaded guilty on August 3, 2021.
According to court docu- ments, between October 2020 and February 2021, a law enforcement investiga- tion revealed that Malara and others had been distrib- uting cocaine, methampheta- mine, fentanyl, and marijuana. As part of the in- vestigation, law enforcement conducted surveillance on Malara and observed him obtaining and distributing narcotics throughout the Middle District of Florida, in- cluding his barbershop in Pinellas County, the West- shore Plaza shopping mall in Tampa, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and various other locations.
