Lauryn Hill Is A Grandma; Son Zion Has First Child
Lauryn Hill and son Zion with his baby boy. The baby Zephaniah is the great grand- son of Bob Marley.
In 1998, Lauryn Hill re- leased “To Zion” in honor of her first-born, Zion Marley, and it looks like her eldest child is now a father himself. Hill’s 19-year- old son and his girlfriend re- portedly welcomed a son named, Zephaniah.
Hill hasn’t confirmed the birth, but Zion’s father, Rohan Marley, tweeted a photo of the newborn on Sun- day (Feb. 19) along with a Bible verse from Zephaniah 3:16.
“In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack,” Rohan wrote hashtag- ging the newborn’s name.
Zion also shared a photo of the baby, on his private Insta- gram account captioned, “If there ever was a question who I do it for...#myson.”
Chris Brown Won’t Sign Contract To Fight Soulja Boy; Going About The Business Of Music
Soulja Boy tweeting about a fight that probably won’t happen, while Chris Brown is promoting his upcoming tour.
Add another movie to Don- ald Glover‘s resume for 2017 as he is on board to voice Simba for The Lion King re- make.
The news comes as the film’s director, Jon Favreau, made the announcement on Twitter Friday (February 17).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Favreau met Glover at an industry event just a few months ago where he gushed about his son being a fan of the actor/rapper’s music. Glover released Awaken, My Love! under his rap name, Childish Gambino, in De- cember.
Glover just won two Golden Globes for his work on Atlanta as the FX show was awarded Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy and Glover took home the trophy for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
He is set to portray Lando Calrissian in an upcoming Star Wars film.
Favreau also announced that James Earl Jones, who actually was the original voice for Darth Vader in the Star Wars trilogy, will reprise his role as Mufasa, Simba’s fa- ther, in the new Lion King.
We may be nearing the end of the saga of the boxing match between Chris Brown and Soulja Boy, and (perhaps to the surprise of few) it’s looking more and more like this one finishes with a fizzle rather than an epic rumble in Dubai.
Soulja Boy jumped on Twitter again Sunday (Febru- ary 19) to taunt Chris Brown, saying Brown was afraid to sign the contract and that the beef was over.
Fight promoter Wack 100 also recently explained that Breezy was the one holding
up the bout.
Brown has not entertained
the fight since the initial vol- ley of insults between him and Soulja and subsequent media frenzy in early Janu- ary, although he did address it in early February, saying it was still on his radar.
So far, Brown has made no public response to Soulja’s latest tweets, and has recently been promoting his upcom- ing The Party Tour with guests 50 Cent, French Montana, Fabolous, O.T. Genasis and Kap G.
Promoter Sues Jeezy For $100,000 For ‘No Show’
Global Spin Awards Honoring DJs Held; Winners Announced On Revolt TV Thursday
DJ Khaled and T.I along with Dave Chappell and Jermaine Dupri were among the stars at the Global Spin Awards.
Jeezy is facing some legal trouble as a promoter is suing him for $100,000 for breach of contract and reportedly pocket- ing a $30,000 deposit after skip- ping out on a show, the Houston Chronicle reports.
The concert was scheduled for December 9 at The Arena The- ater in Houston and promoter Darryl Austin says Jeezy was given half of a $60,000 concert fee as his deposit.
Austin says in his case, which was filed February 8, that as the show approached, the Atlanta rapper informed him he was not going to perform. The venue had already sold about 1,000 tickets for the show, and the promoter tried to convince the Snowman to keep his commitment. The suit continues by saying Jeezy’s promised payment was even upped to $80,000 per the rap- per’s request.
Jeezy allegedly decided not to show up for show.
“[A]t the last minute,” Jeezy decided to attend a party in his hometown the same date as the scheduled show. Austin says he offered to reschedule the concert or even fly Jeezy in a private jet to Houston to do the perform- ance, but Jeezy didn’t take up either offer.
