Tampa To Host The 2022 Gymnastics Championship

USA Gymnastics President and CEO, Li Li Leung an- nounced last Friday that the 2022 Gymnastics Champi- onships will be coming to Tampa later this year. The National Congress and Trade Show will run cur- rently, August 18-21. Amalie Arena and the Tampa Con- vention Center will host the events.
The events will deter- mine the men’s and women’s junior and senior
all-around and individual national champions.
This will be the first time in 15 years that both the U. S. Gymnastics Champi- onship and National Con- gress and Trade Show will take place in USA Gymnas- tics’ Region 8. Region 8 last hosted the events in Nashville, TN, in 2004, stated Jason Aughey, Senior Vice President of Sports Tourism for the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.
City Releases S. W. E. E. P. Schedule For 2022
Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste and Environ- mental Program Manage- ment began its annual Solid Waste Enhanced Environ- mental Program (S.W.E.E.P.) collection serv- ice on Monday, January 3, 2022.
The program, exclusive to Tampa residential cus- tomers, offers a courtesy, curbside non-hazardous and bulky item collection service at no additional charge. Collection occurs at specifi- cally scheduled times throughout the year.
Residents are encour- aged to look up their scheduled collection dates through the Tampa Trash and Recy- cling tool located on the department’s website at tampa.gov/SWEEP so that they may be pre- pared.
The tool also provides a sign-up option for a re- minder notification and is available for download on Apple and Android prod- ucts.
In 2021, the depart- mental program col- lected approximately 2418.70 tons (5,332,320 lbs.) of bulky waste from Tampa’s neighbor- hoods, ensuring its cleanliness, health, and safety.
Below are some of the main program require- ments. The complete list of
program requirements can be found on the website.
S.W.E.E.P. Set Out Re- quirements:
• Items must be placed curbside, no later than 8 p. m. Sunday night and no ear- lier than (5) days prior to the first day of the week your scheduled collection.
• Piles should not exceed 10 cubic yards or will be sub- ject to additional disposal costs.
• Items placed in front of vacant homes or lots will be treated as illegal dumping and investigated by Code Enforcement.
• For safety reasons, items blocked by obstacles, under trees or wires will not be col- lected.
Accepted Items Include:
• Household appliances and furniture (including mattresses)
• Tires (up to 4 with no rim)
• Toilets
• Carpet
• Yard waste (cut down to
4-foot segments) Customers may contact
