Wild Bullet Lands In Hood Of Woman’s Car
 BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
There’s a phrase that says, “What goes up must come down.” And it seems to be a true statement. Each year, law enforcement officials warn the community of wild shots in the air on New Year’s Eve. Persons have been injured and even killed by those stray bullets fired in the air.
An East Tampa woman experienced that shortly after the 2021 New Year arrived.
Ms. Esther Ruth found a bullet hole in the hood of her vehicle on Saturday morning. The bullet did not damage the engine of the 2010 Scion TC.
Ms. Ruth recalled hearing the shooting the evening before, but it appeared to be in the dis- tance, about 2-3 blocks over, she said. She noti- fied police when she found the bullet Saturday, and was told that there had been shooting in the area. The bullet probably came from that.
Ms. Ruth shared that how easy someone could have been injured or killed from that stray
Bullet in hood of car.
Bullet after removed from car.
bullet no one knew who shot it. She said it ap- peared to be a .45 slug. It was removed from her car and turned over to police officers.
“I’m just upset that a child could have been out in the street during the time of the shooting. I wish the community in certain areas would take heed to Black Lives Matter instead of just making it a past tense,” she said.
The bullet hole had to be filled in, resurfaced, sand down, painted and then glazed.

      Trump’s Last Stand
By now, every American should know if the 12 Repub- lican Congressional Senators and the 140 Republican House of Representatives were successful in over- turning the votes of more than 81 million Americans who cast a vote for Joe Biden as President of the United States. Indeed, those 81 million voters should never vote for a Re- publican candidate for any elected office again.
Clearly, nearly all of them have remained silent to Pres- ident Donald Trump and his minions’ lies, bullying of Re- publican Governor’s, Supervisors of Elections, State Congressional Senators and representatives, Republican Secretaries of State and other Republican state officials, and anyone else he believes he can scare into “finding” fraudulent ballots, or misplaced or thrown away ballots that will cause the election to be called in Trump’s favor.
Even taped telephone conversations wherein Trump asks Georgia officials to “find” enough votes to make him the winner of Georgia’s electoral votes have not drawn much republican criticism. Even though nearly 8 million more voters voted for Biden than Trump, Trump and his supporters insist that Trump won the election. Yet, there have been not one shred of evidence found to support any allegation of voter fraud.
Trump’s desperation to remain in office is so obsessive until he allowed himself to be taped suggesting that Geor- gia officials collude with him to “find” nearly 12,000 votes that would help him win the election.
Still, other Republican citizens have been loudly silent about acts of sedition, treason, and criminal behavior by Trump which have been ignored and uncriticized by Re- publican elected officials.
Clearly, there is no righteousness in Republican offi- cials, and they pose a threat to American democracy as we have come to uphold, shed blood for and voted to keep as our legacy for generations,
The party of Lincoln, which saw the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, would be wholly ashamed that its name is currently part of the Trump Administra- tion’s bid not to die.
However, the alternative of supporting the new Repub- licanism is a guarantee to the death of our democracy, As the voice of the people, we can only pray that the men and women of goodwill will not allow American democracy to die.
