    Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance Names New Community Coordinator/ Tobacco Policy Manager
Diadra W. Biles,
DPM, MPH, CPH, was named the Community Coordinator/Tobacco Policy Manager for the Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance (HCADA).
Biles has over four years of experience with the American Heart As- sociation in Atlanta, where she served as the
Director of Quality & Systems Improvement. Also, she previously owned her own private podiatry practice.
She received her
Master’s in Public
Health from the Univer-
sity of South Florida and
her Doctorate from
Barry University’s

Cindy Grant, Exec- utive Director, HCADA said, “We are pleased to welcome Diadra to HCADA. She brings a wealth of experience and compassionate mindset to our organiza- tion. We know that she will contribute greatly to the work that we do in the Tampa Bay commu- nity.”
For her part, Biles is pleased to be joining the HCADA team, and has a plan in place for her work here.
“I want to further the efforts of community collaboration and policy change to pursue a com- munity free of tobacco use and abuse,” said Biles.

Last Friday, members of the Seniors Shuffleboard Team held their 8th Tournament for this year. It took place at the Ragan Park Community Center.
The tournament’s first place winners were Pearl James and Linda Cotney. The second place winners were Sandra Mills and Audrey Acosta.
The winners first place winners represented the Jazzy Seniors, of Ragan Park. The second place winners are members of the Jazzy Seniors B Team, and the third place honors went to The Over Fifty and Fab- ulous, of Fair Oaks Community Center.
The event was sponsored by Dr. Vondalyn Crawford, of Health Matters Pharmacy and J. Evan Rousseau, of Choices Made Simple.
Steve Scott is the Director and Trainer of the Shuffleboard Team. Katherine Palmer serves as the Assistant Trainer.
Among those on hand for the competition were: Steve Scott, Katherine Palmer, Pearl James, Linda Cotney, Au- drey Acosta, Sandra Mills, Nedra Thompkins, Char- lotte Coffie, Carolyn Williams, Sandra Flowers, Carrie Rhanes, Willie Mae Gardner, Vonnie Scott, Vera Barnes, Debra Moore, Quincy Jefferson, Ruby Cut- ler, and Shirley Thomas
Scott said, “I would like to thank the dominos players at Ragan Park and the V.I.P’s of Sulphur Springs for their sup- port for the tournament.
“We now have the land and I know someone with the blue print for the Shuffleboard Court. They will volunteer their time and work. But we need finances for the last stage to build a com- munity shuffleboard court. If there is anyone out there that will finance a shuffleboard court that is really needed in our com- munity please let me contact me, Steve Scott director and trainer email sbs.scott@aol.com and we all in East Tampa will appreciate you to the fullest degree.”
The shuffleboard team mem- bers represent the Spring Hill
Community Center, the Fair Oaks Community Center, and the Ragan Park Community Cen- ter.
Anyone interested in learning to play shuffleboard can visit Ragan Park Community Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue. Scott teaches Shuffleboard on Mon- days and Fridays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. He also teaches the game at Cyrus Greene Commu- nity Center on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Scott said he uses portable shuffleboards to train seniors at Williams Park and Fair Oaks Community Centers.
