 HART, City Of Tampa Awarded $67.3M To Modernize Streetcar
  The City of Tampa has re- ceived $67.3 million of dedi- cated funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) New Starts Transit Program for Tampa’s TECO Line Street- car Extension and Modern- ization Project.
On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, City of Tampa officials were joined by officials of Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) and FDOT.
HART officials said the grant is the largest transit funding award the State has ever awarded to the Tampa Bay Region.

The overall project cost estimate is $234.5 million and would extend and mod- ernize the TECO Line Street- car beginning in 2022.

Tampa’s Mayor Jane Castor said, “We are all still hopeful that we will get a positive ruling from the Florida Supreme Court on the All For Transportation funding, and that will bring additional funding into our area so that we can provide more transportation solu- tions and enable our roads to be safer to travel.”
