MS. PERRETHIA JEANETTE KING
Ms. Perrethia Jeanette King passed away at home on Sunday, December 13, 2020, following an extended illness. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Satur- day, December 19, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, Florida, with Brother Luther McClendon, Officiating.
Ms. Perrethia Jeanette King was born on May 16, 1953, in Tampa, Florida. She was the first of three daughters born to the late Perry King, Jr., and Alethia Ward King.
She went to school in Hillsbor- ough County, attending G. W. Carver Elementary, West Tampa Junior High School and graduated from Hillsborough High School, Class of 1971.
She followed in her mother’s footsteps and attended Tuskegee Institute, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1974.
Perrethia began a career in ed- ucation by teaching elementary school in the public school systems of Broward County, FL.
As Perrethia always taught her students to strive for higher heights, she herself returned to the classroom and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Nova University, and upon earning her degree, she returned to Tampa and began teaching at Dunbar Elemen- tary and Egypt Lakes Elementary respectfully, until her retirement.
Perrethia, at an early age, was baptized and became a member of 29th Street Church of Christ until her demise.
She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Perrethia loved being around people and never met a stranger. She had a unique ability to strike up conversations and make friendships wherever she went, Walgreens, Walmart, Publix, it didn’t matter. She loved people and people loved her.
Perrethia loved being on the move and it didn’t matter where.... dining out, the movies, visiting friends, shopping, West Palm Beach. She was an avid TV watcher- especially movies, (the scarier the better).
Perrethia had a great sense of humor and loved pulling pranks and scaring people. But her biggest gift was her warm and generous smile and her huge giving and nur- turing spirit. Perrethia forewent some of her own dreams when she became the caregiver for both her mother and father after they be- came ill.
While Perrethia endured sig- nificant health issues of her own, she always managed to smile and stay positive -what an inspiration and symbol of strength she was.
She is survived by: her loving sisters, Darcel K. Gentry (Atlanta, GA), and Attorney Bettye J. King, (Juno Beach, FL); nieces, Vanitee M. Gentry and Royal Gentry (Tariq), both of Atlanta, GA; cousins, Clifford Williams, Jr., (Pat, Brandi, LaMaria, Clifani, and Ciara), John Williams, Sr., (Jan- ice), John Williams, Jr., (Valerie, John, III), Olivia Williams (Darryl, III), Cheryl McLeod, Joycelyn Rouzan (Reginald, Leah), Kathy Wormack (Dorian); the Stone fam- ily (Mildred, Melvin, Michelle, Car- olyn, Jacquelyn, James Daes, Michael), and the Thomas family of West Palm Beach, FL; goddaugh- ter, Ebony Mitchell; faithful and devoted friends, Robin Parker, Luther and Brenda McClendon, Wilbur Greenlee, Joyce Avery- Mitchell, Robert McAdoo, Lovie James, Daisy Gaines, Rowena Campbell, Kenneth Hall, Johnnie Jones, Kevin White, Larry and Angie Tillman, Sharlene Pilcher, Deborah Rodriguez, Joe Williams, her 29th Street Church of Christ family, wonderful neighbors; care- takers, Bertha Russell, Patricia Session, Rose Raiford, Karen Tay- lor and many more friends.

SERGEANT FIRST CLASS ALBERT E. GREEN
A Memorial Service for Ser- geant First Class Albert E. Green, who passed away Saturday, Decem- ber 5, 2020, will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 10 A. M. at the Life In Christ Community Church, 9706 N. 26th St., Tampa, FL, 33612. Sergeant First Class Al- bert E. Green will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at the Florida National Cemetery.
Albert “Al” Green, was wel- comed into his heavenly Father’s house Saturday afternoon, Decem- ber 5, 2020. He was not the Al Green, known for soul music, but Albert Emmanuel Green, known as an exquisitely kind and humble man to his friends, family and loved ones. His humility was evident in his absence of arrogance when speak- ing of his accomplishments. Some of these included both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, more than 10 years in insurance, and nearly 20 years of service to the United States Army, with his highest accomplish- ments being, his daughters; Vanessa Walters, a Special Education Teacher and Brittany Peters-Wage- nius, a United States Air Force Offi- cer.
It must be stated that the final accolade mentioned was verified as his “greatest” directly from the ac- colade herself, and may contain an ounce of bias (humility can skip gen- erations). He was born on October 16, 1965, in Tallahassee, Florida, (in the midst of a parade).
Al leaves behind, (as previously
mentioned), “two” daughters, Vanessa and Brittany, along with his honorary “middle daughter” Priscilla Johnson, a remarkable young woman, who recently fin- ished her military commitment in the U. S. Navy. Al’s children loved him for his humor, which was often on display.
This humor was displayed in his very recent explanation on why he had missed several calls from his daughter, to which he replied, “last time I answered the hospital phone, it was a telemarketer, they were try- ing to reach me to discuss my car’s extended warranty.” His humor was a compliment to his resilience which no-doubt got him through his three deployments overseas for Opera- tions IRAQI FREEDOM and EN- DURING FREEDOM.
Al has always been called a man that “marches to the beat of his own drum,” (no doubt the result of his being born during a FAMU parade), and based on his love of older “dubbed” Kung-Fu films and his fa- vorite Super Hero movies being the Green Lantern and The Incredibles, the characterization appears accu- rate. He lived his life by the “5 F’s,” Food, Family, Friends, Fraternity (Alpha Phi Alpha) and Fitness. He showed how he valued those rela- tionships through his perpetual gen- erosity, caring, and as so many have said, his kindness. Indeed, his kind, outgoing personality has resulted in his being a man without enemies.
In addition to his two biological daughters, Al is survived by: a loving mother, Thelma Ireta Green, dad, Earl Cecil Green and father, Willie Deas; 7 siblings: Johnny Paul, Regina, Earl, III, Shauntae, Nikki, Daino, Amelia, and Kenny; in addi- tion to 4 grandchildren: Estella (12), Aniyah (10), Everitt (10) and Alden (2 weeks).
Flowers can be sent to Gudes Funeral Home, 4050 East Hillsbor- ough Ave., Tampa, FL 33610, or di- rectly to The Green Family, 6506 N. 32nd St., Tampa, FL 33610 and, do- nations can be sent to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Insti- tute Foundation Inc., Tampa, Florida.
We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines - Masks are Required to Attend.
