David Ortiz Expected To Make Full Recovery After Being Shot
DAVID ORTIZ
David Ortiz is expected to make a full recovery after being shot while at a bar in the Do- minican Republic on Sunday night.
Ortiz was enjoying an evening at Dial Bar in his home- town of Santo Domingo and sit- ting outside on the patio with his back to the street. Video shows him getting shot in the back from close range by some- one who popped into the frame out of nowhere, with a report from CDN saying the man ar- rived on a motorcycle.
Ortiz and his friend, TV personality Jhoel Lopez, were taken to a local medical center for treatment. Both were said to be in stable condition, with Lopez making a recovery after suffering a wound in his leg, and Ortiz undergoing surgery after being shot in the back. The bullet exited through Ortiz’s abdomen.
Late Sunday night, Ortiz’s father told reporters that no or- gans were hit and that his son was expected to make a full re- covery.
Ortiz was conscious and talking when he arrived for medical treatment, local re- porters said. He was fearful for his life and apparently told the doctor, “please don’t let me die. I’m a good man.”

Push Warriors’ Dynasty
To The Brink In NBA Finals
So this is how it ends?
The Golden State Warriors were the great dynasty of this generation — and still are — but their championship win- dow could be closing a lot faster than expected.
With the team just one loss away from dropping a title op- portunity, you don’t exactly have to squint to see the writ- ing on the wall.
Given everything at stake for the Warriors — not just when the ball tips off on Mon- day night in Toronto with the team in the wrong side of a do- or-die game but also in the critical off-season that lies ahead — we could be nearing the end of an era.
Blame injuries, blame an imbalanced roster and salary cap limitations that left the team a little too top-heavy, blame it on the (struggling) Boogie, blame it on the rain — whatever. All of it ignores the fact the Warriors are in this po- sition, with their back against the wall and looking less fear- some than ever, because the
STEPHEN CURRY
Toronto Raptors put them here.
The Warriors are living with the simple truth that, for the first time in this historic run of five consecutive Finals, they’re not the better team.
"After Game 4 it was a tough vibe in the locker room," Stephen Curry said on Sun- day afternoon, reflecting on the Raptors’ convincing 105-92 win on Friday night to take a 3- 1 series lead, "just because you lose two in a row at home. No- body likes that feeling at all, es- pecially in The Finals, and it’s kind of a little self-reflection of what do we need to do, what do we need to correct for us to stay alive."
Derek Fisher Calls Out
Travel Accommodations
For WNBA Players
Different Decades
Derek Fisher is not happy with the current reality for his team and his league.
Fisher, the head coach of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, took to Instagram after an 89-85 win over the Min- nesota Lynx on Saturday to call out the travel accommodations they were dealing with.
He posted a picture of the Sparks apparently waiting for a train with all of their luggage in tow and wrote in his caption, “So after a hard fought win on national television @la_sparks are right back to reality that these women are not being treated like the best athletes in the world!! #facts #has- tochange #comeonnow.”
The 18-year NBA veteran
DEREK FISHER
and five-time champion Fisher is currently in his first season as Sparks coach, lead- ing the team to a 3-2 start to the year.
While the WNBA is slowly gaining the respect that it de- serves in the greater basketball hierarchy, Fisher’s post sheds light on the hidden struggles that those in the league still face every day.
Atlanta Hawks’ free agent forward Vince Carter could become the first player in NBA history to play in
