City Of Tampa Urges Residents To Prepare For Hurricane Season
The City of Tampa's Office of Emergency Management is urging residents to get ready for the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season. Hurricane Season be- gins on June 1st and ends on November 30th.
The City has partnered with FEMA to host the Tampa Prepareathon, a campaign dedicated to getting the word out to the public on hurricane preparedness.

ing events are available for res- idents:
Citywide Severe Weather Exercise
On May 31st, the City will conduct a functional training exercise to test the City’s re- sponse to a major Category 4 hurricane. All residents, busi- nesses and community groups are encouraged to demon- strate hurricane prepared- ness.

Residents are invited to submit selfies preparing for

the hurricane season. Share the photos at #IAmTam- paReady selfies for the chance
to win a Midland NOAA Weather Radio. Tag Alert Tampa (Facebook: @Alert- TampaEM; Twitter: @Alert- Tampa) and also use #IAmTampaReady.
Every adult who shared a selfie and tagged Alert Tampa will be entered into a drawing to win one NOAA Weather Radio, courtesy of Midland. Winners will be announced on Facebook and Twitter on Fri- day, June 2.
Night of Preparedness
On June 1st, the City will host the “Night of Prepared-
ness” at the Tampa Emergency Operations Center. The Na- tional Weather Service, Tampa Bay weather experts, and pub- lic safety officials will talk about hurricane preparedness and will be ready to answer your questions.
Partnership with Retailers
Throughout June, the Tampa Office of Emergency Management will encourage resident and business pre- paredness in partnership with Publix and Home Depot stores.
