Tuskegee University Alumni Club To Host 4th Jazz Luncheon
The Tampa Bay Tuskegee University Alumni Club will host its 4th Annual Afternoon of Jazz Scholarship Luncheon on Saturday, June 24th, 2017, 11AM–2PM,attheEmbassy Suites Hotel/USF, 3705 Spec- trum Boulevard, Tampa.
Dr. Brian Johnson, 7th President of Tuskegee Univer- sity, will be returning as Hon- ored Guest Speaker for this exciting and informative occa- sion.
At age 43, President Johnson is one of the youngest individuals selected to serve as President of an HBCU (Historically Black Col- leges and Universities) in re- cent years. Dr. Johnson is also the editor and author of 7 academic and scholarly books, and author of an institutional history of a Historically Black College and University — his alma mater, Johnson C. Smith University.

musical guest, Donna Dou- glas and Company. The Mistress of Ceremonies for the event will be Mrs. Jewel Warren, distinguished Tuskegee University graduate, and event Committee Chair.
The Awesome Auction re- turns with a variety of tantaliz- ing choices and door prizes will be numerous. Perhaps most in- teresting to aviation and WWII
buffs will be a P-51D Mustang Fighter aircraft painted in Tuskegee Airmen colors and autographed by an original Tuskegee Airman!!!
Ms. Cynthia Flowers, niece of the late Ms. Teresa Manuel, Olympic Competitor and Tuskegee graduate, will present Ms. Manuel’s Olympic Flag to Dr. Johnson for enshrinement in the Tuskegee Museum during the luncheon. Ms. Manuel made history in 1948, as the first African American woman from Florida to compete in the Olympics.
The public is invited to join the Club for this event to raise scholarship funds for the post- secondary aspiration of local students who desire to attend Tuskegee University.

High School Graduation Ceremonies End Friday
On Friday night, the last of the traditional Hillsborough County high school graduations will end. Public school grad- uation ceremonies began on May 19th.
All of the graduation ceremonies are being held at the Florida State Fairgrounds.
On Thursday afternoon, May 25th, students from Bloom- ingdale High School, (4 p.m.); and King High School, (8 p.m.) will take place.
On Friday, May 26th, students from Strawberry Crest High School, (9 a.m.); Middleton High School, (12:30 p.m.); and Hillsborough High School, (4 p.m.); will take place.
4th Annual Legacy Live Showcase
Revealing Truth Ministries’ Embracing Legacy will host its “4th Annual Legacy Live Showcase!” The event will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, 9 a. m. to 12 noon. This fam- ily-friendly event will be held at the church, 5201 N. Arme- nia Ave., Tampa (33603).
According to those who planned the event, the event will have something for every member of the family to enjoy. The Mighty Marching Lions Band will provide music, as well as the Youth Choir will grace the place with sounds of splen- dor. Free refreshments and much more will also be available.
In addition to the fun activities, those who attend will have an opportunity to learn more about Embracing Legacy and the many programs offered: tutoring, SAT/ACT Prep, Ro- botics Club and competition, Youth Choir, creative art and the marching band.
This event will also be an opportunity for parents and/or guardians to sign their children (ages 2 to 17) up for any of the programs offered.

The names of hurricanes are selected by the World Mete- orological Organization. Every six years, the list of names be- gins again! However, the names of especially destructive hurricanes are usually retired.
