Accidents
Moffitt Cancer Center Doctor Killed In Crash

A three-car accident claimed the life of a popular Tampa physician Wednesday morning. The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m., Wednesday.
According to the Temple Terrace Police Department, the accident took place at the inter- section of E. Fowler Avenue and Gillette Avenue.
One vehicle was traveling northbound on Gillette and the second was traveling eastbound of Fowler Avenue, a third vehi- cle was stopped at the traffic light in the eastbound lanes on E. Fowler Avenue, police said.
The first two cars collided in the intersection, and one of those vehicles slid into the third vehicle and burst into flames.
Temple Terrace Fire Rescue responded to the scene and ex- tinguished the fire. However, the driver, identified as Dr. Charles Canaan Williams, Jr., 70, of Temple Terrace, died.
One of the other drivers was transported to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threaten- ing injuries. The other driver and her passenger were not in- jured, police said.

than 45 years. He was employed at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, at the time of his death.
Alan List, President and CEO of Moffitt Cancer Center said, “The Moffitt family is dev- astated by the loss of Dr. Charles Williams. He has been a part of our family since the cancer center opened its doors back in 1986 and through the years has fought coura- geously alongside countless numbers of patients going through their cancer journey. “Our thoughts are with Dr. Williams’ family at this very difficult time.”
Dr. Williams graduated from the University of Pitts- burgh, School of Medicine in 1973. He completed an Internal Medicine residency program and a clinical fellowship in med- ical oncology-hematology at the University of South Florida.
At the time of his death, Dr. Williams focused on the treat- ment of all types of cancer. He was a senior member of the Thoracic Oncology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center.

In tears we saw you sinking and watched you fade away. Our hearts were almost broken because we wanted you to stay. But, when we saw you sleeping peacefully free from all your pain; how could we wish you back with us to suffer that again.
It broke our hearts to lose you but, you did not go alone; for a part of us went with you on that Wednesday night, when God called you to be with Him.

In Traffic
Accident
An elderly man was killed at- tempting to cross a busy inter- section. The accident took place shortly after 8 p.m., Tuesday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ms. Jessica Tenenblatt, 39, of Tampa, was driving a 2012 Hyundai Sonata westbound on State Road 580 (W. Hillsborough Avenue) in the inside lane. As she reached Webb Road, Wilbert W. Williams, 94, of Tampa, was attempting to cross State Road 580, and trav- eled into the path of Ms. Tenen- blatt’s vehicle.
Williams was struck by the vehicle and died at the scene. No charges are expected to be filed in the case.
