Trump Is Obsessed With Changing The Way Amazon Does Business
Stormy Daniels Lawyer WantsTo Depose Trump, Cohen
Everywhere you turn these days, there’s chatter about gov- ernment regulation of Face- book. But President Donald Trump reportedly has an- other tech giant in his crosshairs: Amazon.
Axios is reporting that Trump wants to "go after" e- commerce giant Amazon.
”He's obsessed with Ama- zon," one source said. "Ob- sessed."
Trump has discussed alter- ing the company's tax treat- ment because several of his friends told him Amazon is hurting their businesses and "killing shopping malls and brick-and-mortar retailers," according to Axios.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
Amazon shares fell 4.6 per- cent Wednesday after the re- port, wiping out more than $33 billion in shareholder value.
Trump has blasted Amazon on social media in the past, saying the e-commerce com- pany is hurting the retail in- dustry and causing U. S. job
losses.
It is unclear what the presi-
dent would do on his own, but actions in the two other branches of government could settle the issue for him.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin hinted last July the administration may soon take "a position" on Amazon's tax collection policy.
Congress has the power to levy taxes, and it is unclear whether the Treasury can take any action itself against Ama- zon.
Trump also repeatedly bashed the "Amazon Washing- ton Post" on Twitter. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post.
Cops Won’t Be Charged In Baton Rouge Shooting
Stormy Daniels' lawyer has filed a motion in U.S. Dis- trict Court to depose Presi- dent Donald Trump and Michael Cohen, the presi- dent's personal lawyer who ad- mitted to paying the adult-film star $130,000 less than two weeks before the 2016 elec- tion.
Michael Avenatti, on be- half of Stephanie Clifford, whose professional name is Stormy Daniels, is seeking to depose Trump and Cohen each for "no greater than two
hours," according to the court document.
Cohen's lawyer dismissed the court motion as “reckless." Clifford, 39, has said she had sex with Trump once in 2006 and was later threatened to keep quiet about the en-
counter.
She also said in a "60 Min-
utes" interview Sunday that she signed statements denying the affair with Trump be- cause she was warned, "They can make your life hell in many different ways.”
Louisiana’s attorney general has ruled out criminal charges against two white Baton Rouge police officers in the fatal shooting of a black man out- side a convenience store.
Attorney General Jeff Landry’s decision Tuesday comes nearly 11 months after the Justice Department ruled out federal criminal charges in Alton Sterling’s July 2016 death.
Alton Sterling was fatally shot outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge.
Landry made the an- nouncement after meeting with family members of Ster- ling.
Officer Blane Salamoni shot and killed Sterling dur- ing a struggle outside a con- venience store where the 37-year-old black man was selling homemade CDs. Officer Howie Lake II helped wres- tle Sterling to the ground, but Lake didn’t fire his gun.
Stormy Daniels said on ’60 Minutes’ she was threatened if she talked. She is shown here with Trump.
Rural School Supt. Plans To Arm Students With Rocks
A rural school district in Pennsylvania has made head- lines for the safety measures they’re taking to fight back against a potential school shooting. According to CNN, Blue Mountain School District Superintendent David Helsel thinks arming pupils with rocks will help thwart an attack from a school shooter.
In a video posted online, Helsel said the plan to use rocks came after staff members took the active shooter re- sponse training known as
Using stones to defend them- selves is an alternative.
ALICE–alert, lockdown, in- form, counter and evacuate. The training taught teachers and faculty to run from the shots, barricade the doors with
desks and chairs and to use whatever’s at their disposal and throw at the shooter, whether it be paper, pens or books.
However the rocks accord- ing Helsel is simply a last line of defense.
Parents within the Blue Mountain School District re- portedly like the rocks.
“At this point, we have to get creative, we have to protect our kids first and foremost, throw- ing rocks, it’s an option,” Dori Bornstein, a parent said.
Trump Expels 60 Russian Diplomats After Former Spy Was Poisoned
The United States, European Union countries, Canada and Ukraine expelled more than 100 Russian diplomats on Monday in response to Russia's alleged use of a nerve agent to poison a former Russian spy living in the United Kingdom.
President Donald Trump
on Monday ordered the expul- sion of 60 Russian diplomats the U.S. identified as intelli- gence agents and the closure of the Russian consulate in Seat- tle, the most forceful action
Sergi Skripal and his daugh- ter, Yulia were poisoned with nerve gas.
Trump has taken against Rus- sia to date.
Of those being expelled, 48 of the alleged intelligence agents work at the Russian em-
bassy in Washington and 12 are posted at the United Nations in New York, senior administra- tion officials said.
Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia l remain criti- cally ill. Sadly, late last week doctors indicated their condi- tion is unlikely to change in the near future and they may never recover fully. This shows the ut- terly barbaric nature of this act and the dangers that hundreds of innocent citizens in Salisbury could have faced.”
