Local
Free Community Forum On Human Trafficking
Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council will host the event
Tampa teens, their pa- rents and other concerned citizens are invited to a FREE educational and interactive forum on human trafficking, an issue that is directly im- pacting the Tampa Bay com- munity.
The event is to be held on
Wednesday, April 11th, from 6 p. m. to 8 p. m. at Barksdale Adult Activity Center, 1801 North Lincoln Avenue in Macfarlane Park.
The forum is sponsored by the Mayor’s Youth Lead- ership Council, a program of the City of Tampa that allows local teens to develop their leadership skills and apply them through various service projects and workshops, which include planning and hosting community forums about pertinent issues.
Community members will hear from an array of ex- perts, who will provide a
deeper understanding of the impact and implications of human trafficking in the legal system, treatment and experiences of survivors, and local and federal legislation combating human traffick- ing.
Speakers will be inter- viewed by youth council members before they answer questions directly from the audience in a panel discus- sion.
Finally, community members will have the
chance to browse organiza- tions combating human traf- ficking and have multiple opportunities to take imme- diate action.
Organizations involved include: Loving You Where You Are At, The Salvation Army, Healing Root Ministry
Inc., and the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. Light refresh- ments provided.
