Infant Killed In Single-Car Accident
The Florida Highway Pa- trol is currently investigating an accident in which three children were injured. One died as a result of her in- juries.
According to investiga- tors, Ms. Lorraine Sailor, 50, of Brandon, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Elantra north- bound on I-75. Shortly after 3 p.m., while traveling south of Fletcher Avenue, Ms. Sailor veered to the left to avoid de- bris in the roadway. How- ever, she lost control of the vehicle, which traveled to the center median.
The vehicle collided with the center guardrail, rotated, and came to final rest. As it rotated, 10-month-old Mi’- Keycha James, and 8-year- old Tashiree Allen, were ejected from the vehicle. Michael James, 3, was also injured.
Little Mi’Keycha died as a result of her injuries. Tashiree and Michael were transported to a local
hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.
All three of the children are the grandchildren of Ms. Sailor. Police said none of the children were wearing seatbelts.
The investigation into the accident is continuing and charges are pending, investi- gators said.
MS. LORRAINE SAILOR
The Legacy Of Rev. Abe Brown And Gubernatorial Candidate Andrew Gillum
TAMPA – I am confi- dent that nothing hap- pens in life by mere happenstance. My dis- gracing my teaching pro- fession, as being one of the first teachers in the state of Florida to go to prison for drug addiction in 1966, is proof of White privilege. It was a serious crime during that era for minorities.
However, the criminal stigma was replaced as a sickness by the U. S. Sur- geon General when it be- came an epidemic of usage by White people and the high death totals from their drug addic- tion.
Last year, 72,000 Americans died of drug overdoses. “And the cri- sis is far worse in Florida than the nation, as fatal overdoses spiked 47% from 2015 to 2016, more than double the national rate.” (Please see Tampa Bay Times Editorial, Sep- tember 18th.)
I believe what Rev- erend Abraham Brown did in Tampa with his at- tack on drugs in our com- munity, candidate Andrew Gillum will do the same for the under- served people in the state of Florida, concerning our unaddressed prob- lems of mass incarcera- tion, drug addition, unemployment, school to prison pipeline, and un- fair housing problems. With your assistance, we will see a vast change for all people in our state government!
God ordained that on 9-11, I would receive a let- ter from two well-known inmates from two differ- ent institutions stating, “Black, White and His- panic inmates were pray- ing for the gubernatorial
candidate, Andrew Gillum” and they were writing to their family members and friends to volunteer and donate to help Mayor Gillum to be- come the Governor of Florida.
This change is needed to help change the condi- tions within the Florida Department of Correc- tions, and the need to im- plement a law for the restoration of rights of 1.5 million disenfran- chised returning citizens who qualify, and most importantly create jobs and affordable housing in every community within our state.
There are 100,000 in- mates who can’t vote. But through the prison grapevine they will get at least 10% of the inmates or 10,000 inmates, to get 3 people to vote on their behalf. This will be 30,000 more people vot- ing.
At the age of 87, I am confident Mayor Andrew Gillum will be elected as Governor of the great state of Florida, if the people and the political parties follow God’s plan.
When the people come together as one voice and vote, they will elect the right one who is also God’s choice, Andrew Gillum!
I have invited Mayor Gillum, as well as local, state, national candi- dates and elected officials to attend my 87th Birth- day Celebration later this month.
As Reverend Brown would often say, “Are you listening?” And the peo- ple said, “Amen! It is so!”
