The Longest Ride - Direc- tor George Tillman, Jr. (Bar- bershop, Notorious, Soul Food) directs this drama/romance film about a former champion bull rider (Scott Eastwood) and a college student (Britt Robert- son) troubled relationship. Their relationship interwined with a much older man (Alan Alda), as he reflects back on a past love. If you like romance films, then this one is for you. Made $13M. (Budget N/A). ***1/2
Furious 7 - You already know what to expect from the Fast and Furious franchise. Fast cars, amazing fight scenes, pretty girls, and unbelievable stunts. Director James Wan put all that in this 2 hrs./20 mins. action movie and we wanted to see how the un- timely and tragic death of su- perstar Paul Walker would end. Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family of street racer (Paul Walker, Michelle Ro- driquez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson, and new- comer Natalie Emmanuel) have to protect themselves from Special Ops assassin (Jason Statham) who pledged vengeance for his brother, left brain dead by Dom’s crew in Part 6. Emo- tional tribute to Paul Walker at the end. Action-packed and very entertaining. Try to catch it in the IMAX theater for the
sound. Still No. 1 at box office. Made $251M / Foreign $548M. (Budget N/A). **** and then some.
Home (2015) - An alien named Oh (voiced by Jim Par- son) is on the run from his own people, lands on Earth and makes friends with Tip (voiced by Rihanna), who is on a quest of her own. Kids will love this animation. Made $129M. (Budget $135M). ****
Get Hard - Hedge Fund millionaire, James King (Will Ferrell) is accused of fraud and set for prison at San Quentin. So, he seeks out help from Dar- nell Lewis (Kevin Hart) who will get him ready for life be- hind bars. Also starring T.I. as the leader of a street gang. This movie was hilarious!!! Must- see for laughs. Made $70M. (Budget $40M). ****
Insurgent - The first movie ‘Divergent’ was very good and made $288M worldwide. The second Divergent series “Insur- gent” stepped up the action. Beatrice Prior (Shailene Wood- ley) had to fight her inner emo- tions and a powerful government (Kate Winslett, Jai Courtney, Mekhi Phifer), which threatened to destroy her society. She gets help from her boyfriend (Theo James) who is willing to die for her. Action-packed, and if you can, watch it in 3-D. Enjoyed it! Made $114M U.S. / Foreign $135M. (Budget $110M). ****
