NBCA Brings National Winter Convention To Tampa
Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, President, Progressive M&E Bap- tist State Convention, will host the Mid-Winter Board
LOUISVILLE, KEN-
TUCKY – The National
Baptist Convention of
America Int’l, Inc. (NBCA),
a fellowship of historically
African American Baptist churches, with over
3.5 million members, will be hosting their Mid-
Winter Board and Mini-Congress on February
24 - 26, 2020, at the Saint John Progressive
Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa, where Reverend Dr. Bartholomew Banks is pastor.
The week will be filled with informative sessions for pastors and leaders on how churches can obtain philanthropic support. In un- derstanding that many churches today depend on their congrega- tion to financially support the church and missions, these sessions are designed to help churches understand how to do ministry out- side of the church walls and strategies to get financial support to help fund their community missions.
These sessions will be conducted by The Valdry Center for Phi- lanthropy, located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings there will be classes for pastors, ministers,
women and laymen. These classes are designed to help del- egates learn how to assess the health of their church, evaluate if their church is budget-fo- cused or mission-focused, along with developing strategies to get the church and community to support their missions, both physically and financially.
In addressing social con- cerns, a representative from The Bail Project will address the delegates and share the impor- tance of The Bail Project and how it is a critical tool in pre- venting incarceration and com- bating racial and economic disparities in the bail system.
Throughout the week, the president of the convention, Dr. Samuel C. Tolbert, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana will be addressing members of the convention and introducing new partnerships and collabo- rations that will benefit the members and churches.
Worship services will be held nightly with nationally known speakers coming before the convention. The public is wel- come to attend these events.
