Kevin Durant Will Wear No. 7 With Nets
Serena Williams Beats
Russell Westbrook And Heat Have Mutual Interest In Trade
RUSSELL WESTBROOK Russell Westbrook may
be on the move this summer, and he may have a team in mind that wants him, too.
The Miami Heat have ex- pressed interest in West- brook, and a move to Miami “appeals” to the Oklahoma City point guard.
It’s become quite clear that the Thunder are willing to trade Westbrook in the right deal after Paul George forced his way out of the or- ganization to play for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Barbora Strycova To
Go Into Wimbledon
A new era for Kevin Du- rant means a new jersey number.
Durant posted a picture to his Twitter account show- ing off his new Brooklyn Nets jersey — with a notably new number. After wearing No. 35 throughout his entire ca- reer with both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors, he will switch to No. 7 in Brooklyn.
Durant has tied himself to his old number pretty tightly — his off-court busi- ness is even named Thirty Five Ventures — so this is a pretty abrupt change. It may simply be his way of moving
Singles Final Saturday
The old Serena Williams reappeared for her public on Thursday to beat the slightly less old Barbora Strycova in straight sets and reserve a place in her 12th Wimbledon final.
In all but four of the previ- ous 11 deciders, Williams has prevailed. On Saturday, she will need to be at her best to win her eight title at the All England Club, when Simona Halep tries to win her first.
There is, of course, only one Serena - and, working be- hind the biggest serve on the Tour, she crushed an oppo- nent who on Tuesday had em- barrassed Johanna Konta, coming from 1-4 down to exe- cute the cleverest of wins.
Williams was so much better beating Strycova 6-1, 6-2 in 59 minutes on day 10 than in her three-set struggle against Alison Riske in the quarters as to be almost un- recognizable as the same player.
Two days later, she never properly got to use her deft touches or her killing slice, be- cause Williams served her out of the contest.
SERENA WILLIAMS
Most indicators pointed to a Williams win: 23 majors among 72 career titles, for a start - more than double the combined total of the other semi-finalists.
Serena Williams Fined $10,000 For Allegedly Damaging Wimbledon Court
Serena Williams, tennis legend and seven-time Wim- bledon champion, is being fined $10,000 for allegedly damaging the London practice courts with her racquet.
The All England Club, which hosts the Wimbledon tournament, handed the fine to Williams after she report- edly caused damage during a practice round on the outside courts on June 30.

into a brand new era, espe- cially after the Warriors an- nounced they’d be taking his old No. 35 out of circulation. That chapter is over now that he’s committed to Brooklyn for the long haul.

Marcus Morris Considering Backing Out Of Spurs Deal To Sign With Knicks
MARCUS MORRIS
Marcus Morris is re- minding fans and the media why it’s always important to differentiate between two sides agreeing on a deal and a player actually signing a con- tract.
News emerged on Satur- day that Morris had agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs that included a player option.
Morris was reconsidering his deal with the Spurs and thinking about signing with the Knicks instead.

Planning To Start
LeBron James At
The Los Angeles Lakers have made some big changes this offseason after a disap- pointing year, and they are planning to hand the reins to LeBron James in hopes of turning things around.
Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports that the Lak- ers intend to start LeBron at point guard next season. Danny Green will likely start at the other guard spot, which means Rajon Rondo will be used off the bench.
LeBron has operated as a point-forward throughout most of his career, and he is more than comfortable facil- itating an offense and playing on the ball. He has made very few starts at point guard, but the Lakers obviously feel hav- ing him start at the one will allow them to get the most

out of their roster. The origi- nal plan was to have Kawhi Leonard in the fold, but that did not work out.
Obviously, things could change throughout the off- season. But as of now, having LeBron run the offense with Anthony Davis underneath sounds pretty appealing.
