Texans Release Vernon Hargreaves
VERNON HARGREAVES
When the Texans claimed cornerback Vernon Harg- reaves off of waivers in No- vember, they also acquired the right to cut him before his $9.594 million salary for the 2020 season kicked in.
The Texans have taken ad- vantage of that option. The team reportedly cut Harg- reaves loose on Friday. Harg- reaves’ cap hit was set to be the same as his salary, so the Texans will have all of that money to use this offseason.
The Buccaneers had exer- cised the fifth-year option on the 2016 first-round pick’s con- tract before cutting him, but it was guaranteed for injury only until the start of the new league year in March.
Raiders Reportedly Ready To Offer Tom Brady 2-Year, $60M Contract
TOM BRADY
Tom Brady is set to hit the free agency market for the first time in his career. This move has teams positioning them- selves to try to snag the quar- terback if he decides to leave Foxborough. One of these fran- chises appears to be the Las Vegas Raiders.
Longtime beat writer and fa- ther of superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Larry Fitzgerald Sr., reported that the Raiders are prepared to offer Brady a 2-year $60M contract.
If this offer comes to fruition, it will be on track with what the Patriots say they are prepared to offer Brady to stay in New England. Per sources, Robert Kraft and the front of- fice want to combat Brady's eagerness to hit the free agency pool by offering him a contract extension that will be worth close to $30M a year.
Jameis Is Ready For 'The Winstons' To Take Over
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Win- ston probably isn’t having the relaxing offseason he en- visioned when the 2019 sea- son started.
If things had gone Win- ston’s way last season, he’d have led the Buccaneers back to the postseason for the first time since 2007 and earned himself a hefty new contract from the Bucs in the process.
Instead, Winston’s roller-coaster year, which saw him throw for 5,109 yards, 33 touchdowns and 30 intercep- tions, has left him in a state of limbo as the Bucs continue to debate whether or not to bring him back.
Whatever the future holds for Winston in Tampa Bay, he can take comfort in the fact

that he’s got a bright future ahead of him regardless as he and his fiancee, Breion Allen, with whom he shares a son, are getting married soon.
Winston took to Insta- gram the other day to wish his fiancee a happy Valentine’s Day. 'This is the last time she will have a different name.'
Bucs Could Look To Sign Safety Tony Jefferson
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers could look into signing free-agent safety Tony Jef- ferson, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic.
Jefferson was released by the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, and from 2013 through 2016, he played under Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians while Arians was coaching the Arizona Car- dinals, so there is some famil- iarity between the two sides.
The 28-year-old was lim- ited to just five games this

past season due to a torn ACL he suffered in October. Dur- ing the time he was on the field, he logged 21 tackles and three passes defended.
Myles Garrett Says Mason Rudolph Called Him A 'Stupid N-Word' Before Brawl
"He called me the n-word. He called me a stupid n- word."
That's Myles Garrett fi- nally explaining the racial slur he claims he heard Mason Rudolph utter to him before the all-out Steelers-Browns brawl back in November.
"When he said it," Myles told ESPN in a sit-down inter- view this week, "it kinda sparked something."
As previously reported ... Garrett was banned from the NFL indefinitely after he vio-

lently attacked Rudolph with the QB's own helmet on Nov. 14, 2019.
Colin Kaepernick
To Release Memoir
Through His Own
Publishing Company
Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick will re- lease a memoir sometime this year through a company he has founded called Kaepernick Publishing. Audible will re- lease an audio version of the memoir.
"I want to tell the story of my evolution, and the events that led me to protest systemic oppression, in hopes that it will inspire others to rise in ac- tion," Kaepernick said in a statement Thursday.
According to the statement released by Audible, the mem- oir will share the life experi- ences that led Kaepernick to risk his career as an NFL quar- terback in one silent act of protest.
He filed a grievance against the NFL in October 2017 under the collective bar- gaining agreement, alleging collusion against signing him

to an NFL contract. That grievance was settled in Feb- ruary 2019. Kaepernick, who in 2012-13 quarterbacked the San Francisco 49ers to an appearance in the Super Bowl, protested police brutality and social injustice by kneeling during the pregame national anthem in 2016. He has not been with an NFL team since the 49ers released him in March 2017.
