NBA All-Star Weekend Was A Big Success
Sports
This season gave us ar- guably the greatest All-Star Weekend in NBA history. The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game kicked off the festivities Fri- day. ESPN commentators Stephen A. Smith and Michael Wilbon coached the two sides, but the game's biggest names were on the court.
Common, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and even Guy Fieri produced the most star-studded game of the season that didn't fea- ture active NBA players. All
eyes turned towards the real players afterward, though, as the game's best rookies and sophomores took the floor for an exciting Rising Stars Game led by Zion Williamson, Ja Morant and Luka Doncic.
Saturday was thrilling even by typical All-Star stan- dards. The big men domi- nated the Skills Challenge with Bam Adebayo and Domantas Sabonis going down to the wire. Buddy Hield and Devin Booker duked it out in a classic 3- Point Contest. The night fi- nally closed with a thrilling Slam Dunk Contest in which Aaron Gordon scored 297 out of a possible 300 and still managed to lose. Awful judg- ing especially from Dwayne Wade.

More than 88,000 people have already registered for the Kobe and Gigi Bryant Cele- bration of Life memorial tick- ets in the first 5 hours.
The Staples Center has a capacity of around 20,000 people -- with many of those tickets to be claimed by friends, family, NBA officials and others -- so there will be a limited number of seats and a

Finish Under New Format
Aaron Gordon has par- ticipated in three NBA Slam Dunk contests, nearly winning two. His latest defeat gener- ated a storm of controversy.
Saturday night, Gordon lost to the Miami Heat’s Der- rick Jones, Jr. in a double- overtime dunk-off. On his final attempt of the night, the high-flying Magic forward cleared 7-foot-5 center Tacko Fall. Somehow, the judges only awarded him a 47 for the effort.
Because Jones’ previous dunk earned a 48, he was de- clared the winner. Gordon was left shocked and empty- handed. Afterwards, multiple judges said the contest was supposed to end in a tie, and one of the panelists screwed up.
As for Gordon, he’s ap- parently done with the yearly dunking showcase. Two close losses–last night and against Zach LaVine in 2016–have left a sour taste in his mouth.
The 2020 NBA All-Star Game is officially in the books, and the event will never be the same.
After an extraordinary weekend of events, the league's superstars saved the best for last. Trailing by nine points after three quarters, Team LeBron fought back to give us the greatest ending in All-Star Game history.
The new Elam Ending set the target score at 157, and both sides fought with all they had to get there first. When the dust settled, it was Team LeBron that ended up on top.
Players were taking charges, bodies were hitting the floor, calls and non-calls were being screamed about on both ends. The fourth quarter of the NBA All-Star Game was as intense as the final mo- ments of a playoff game, the biggest stars in the league
ANTHONY DAVIS AND LEBRON JAMES
holding absolutely nothing back.
And in the end, Anthony Davis was a hometown hero by making a free throw.
Davis made a game-end- ing free throw to give Team LeBron a 157-155 win over Team Giannis in the re- vamped NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night, the format overhauled to put in elements for charity and ensure that someone was going to hit a shot to end the game.
