Smartphone Videos Shine In Kindness Of The Heart
Deadline to send in videoes is November 1, 2020
These days, it’s tough to stay positive, even though it’s the best way to cope with what’s going on. Kindness of the Heart offers an easy way to focus on the good that is still plain to see. All that’s needed is a smartphone and knowing someone who deserves na- tional recognition for being kind.
All it takes is to talk about why they should win a Family Flame Award and a $100 gift card in a smartphone video, and then e-mail it to ForThe- FamilyTampa@gmail.com.
All videos must be sent by November 1st. It’s that easy for your video to earn a Family Flame Award, just like movies can win an Oscar.
Winners will be announced on November 20th at the Fifth Annual National FAM Awards at the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County.
There’s room for every form of kindness and everyone who does good things for others. The award categories include: Parent, Sister, Brother, Son, Daughter, and Spouse. The Praise and Gratitude category is ideal for recognizing friends and co-workers. Volunteers and First Responders can be honored for the special things they do.
Meanwhile, CARING Beats Conflict is another aspect of For the Family’s ongoing cele- bration of the positive. People are nominated to honor what they do as caregivers, how they support vulnerable individuals and families (even their own), and exhibit the helpful spirit that is a model for us to over- come every kind of challenge. Smartphone video nomina-
tions sent to ForTheFamily- Tampa@gmail.com can earn a Family Flame Award in the Caring About Others category. Again, the deadline is No- vember 1st.
Agency Administrator Ward Cox says that CARING Beats Conflict has a wider pur- pose that’s woven throughout Kindness of the Heart: “Caring and kindness are found every- where. The more we can show visible examples of its power, the more we show that nega- tive stereotypes are damaging and just plain wrong. They ac- tually hold us back from the cooperation we absolutely need to endure the pandemic and resolve our conflict.”
Of course, kindness isn’t just practiced by individuals. Every organization and busi- ness that serves the commu- nity has the potential for doing good things. That’s why they can earn a Family Flame Award in the Kind Initiatives and Programs category. Video nominations that are received at ForTheFamilyTampa@ gmail.com by November 1st qualify.
For The Family is collabo- rating with school systems (in- cluding Hillsborough County Schools), universities (includ- ing the University of Tampa), nonprofits, churches, busi- nesses, governments (includ- ing the City of Tampa), government agencies, and oth- ers from coast to coast.
The agency’s Hope and Re- newal campaign is another part of Kindness of the Heart. For the Family has produced more than 25 broadcast qual- ity videos and a steady flow of social media posts to keep spir- its high and morale positive.
