Raheem Morris: ‘That’s Called Winning Football’
Tyronn Lue Will Reportedly
Here’s what Falcons coach Raheem Morris said after the 40-23 win over the Vikings on Sunday:
On the performance of the defense despite facing adversity during the week: “They did a nice job of going home on the Thursday that we were off and really locking into the details and getting those guys going. You have to give the guys credit for taking the virtual work, put- ting it into play today. Throughout the week, every- thing they did on the field, it started on Wednesday with a great practice. Came back with a great virtual day. Come back to finish fast on Friday and the guys went out and played well, particularly on
of dictating terms and show- ing disguise and coming out and really confusing them a little bit to get themselves in good position to make plays. A couple of great plays in there. A.J. with that acrobatic catch, Deion off the bat to make a really good play right from the beginning on a good throw. I was just fired up to see those guys to really come and play today and it’s awesome.”
On the importance of having WR Julio Jones back: “Anytime you talk about one of the best re- ceivers, if not the best receiver in the game or over, it’s always good to have him. You know how much respect I have for Julio, how much fun I had coaching him and even more now just watching him going out there and play for his team, for his guys, for every- body involved. He’s great to be around.”
Rajon Rondo Expected To Opt Out Of Contract With Lakers
RAJON RONDO
One of the biggest chal- lenges for a team after winning a championship is the ability to repeat.
Once players start leaving the team and signing else- where, the chances of a repeat decrease. Rajon Rondo may be giving the Los Angeles Lak- ers their first tough decision.
Rondo, 34, has a $2.69M player option for next season but is expected to opt out.
Rondo made $2.56M this season. He only played in 48 games during the regular sea- son and averaged 7.1 points and 5.0 assists in 20.5 minutes per game. He had a larger role in the postseason, averaging 8.9 points, 6.6 assists, and 1.4 steals in 24.7 minutes per game.

third down.”
On where this team has been: “I can’t worry about where it’s been. I just have to worry about where it’s going. Next week, we have to prepare ourselves like we did this week to prepare to go 1-0 once again.”
On the key to the three first-half interceptions: “The guys really did a good job
Tyronn Lue nearly be- came the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers last year, but talks fell apart after the team was not willing to meet his contract demands.
His demands were not an issue with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Lue has agreed to a five- year deal with the Clippers that is worth somewhere around $7 million per year.
That salary will place him among the top-paid coaches

in the NBA behind only the biggest names like Gregg Popovich, Steve Kerr and Doc Rivers.

Lakers ‘Much More Likely Now’ To Target Derrick Rose In Trade
While the Lakers should be dealing with parade logistics and texting each other hang- over cures as they celebrate title No. 17, the reality of the NBA offseason comes fast.
With Rajon Rondo and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope expected to exercise their player options and become free-agents this summer (Avery Bradley and JaVale McGee can join them), the Lakers need to look at their roster around LeBron James and Anthony Davis (AD will opt out but he’s not going anywhere). Los Angeles has just two rotation players under age 26 (Kyle Kuzma

and Alex Caruso), and it needs more shooting and play- making.
Does Derrick Rose fit into that Lakers plan? The Lakers had interest in him at the trade deadline, but a deal is more likely now that the season is over.
