Man Arrested In Racing Incident Involving Injury
Tampa Police arrested a 23-year-old man Wednesday in connection with a street rac- ing incident. An innocent mo- torist was injured after the vehicle crashed.
According to police, wit- nesses observed a blue 2012 Dodge Challenger racing with a white Dodge Challenger southbound on N. Florida Av- enue. Both vehicles exceeded the posted speed limits.
Witnesses told police that the driver of the blue Chal- lenger, driven by Michael Heiman, of Tampa, quickly switch from the inside to the outside lane to avoid colliding with traffic that had stopped.
Heiman reportedly didn’t see that traffic was stopped in the outside lane and over cor- rected his vehicle. As a result, his vehicle began to spin out of control and into the north- bound traffic on N. Florida Av- enue. His vehicle then struck a 2005 black, Buick 4-door, driven by Ms. Shawntae Allen.

Castellano was located and arrested. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with se- rious injury and driving while his license is sus- pended.

An unidentified bicyclist was critically injured Wednesday evening. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident.
According to the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice, Jaime Castellano was driving a Ford Mustang westbound on Symmes Road at East Bay Road. The man riding the bicycle was cross Symmes Road. Castellano is alleged to have struck the bicycle, causing the man to be ejected. He then fled the scene.
The bicyclist was trans- ported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.
A witness to the accident followed Castellano to 11305 Cujoe Lane, where he abandoned the vehicle and

Both Ms. Allen and Heiman were transported to Florida Hospital on Fletcher with severe, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Heiman was charged with racing on public streets, driv- ing on a suspended license, and aggravated careless driv- ing. He also received several civil citations.
The unidentified driver of the white Challenger fled the scene. Detectives are following leads and the investigation is continuing.
A 68-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident early Thursday. The accident took place around 4:24 a.m., in Town N’ Country.
According to police, Pedro Diaz, 28, of Tampa, was traveling eastbound on Hillsborough Avenue. The elderly man was traveling in a wheelchair and attempted to cross Hillsborough Avenue at Blue Springs Drive. The man entered the path of the vehi- cle driven by Diaz on the dark roadway.
As a result, the 2019 Acura MDX Diaz was driving col- lided with the wheelchair. The pedestrian suffered fatal in- juries and died at the scene.
His identity had not been released at press time. No charges are expected to be filed in the case.
