Hillsborough County Seeks Applications For Diversity Advisory Council
Hillsborough County is seeking interested residents to serve on the Diversity Advisory Council. The Council was created to facil- itate communication be- tween Hillsborough County government and diverse populations, and to address matters related to diversity that affect County govern- ment and its citizens.
The Council is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and is com- prised of two individuals from each of the following categories: African Ameri- can; Caribbean; Far East Asian; Gay, Lesbian, Bisex- ual, and Transgender; His- panic / Latino; Indian Asian; Middle Eastern; Na- tive American; Northern and Southern European; People with Disabilities; and At-Large (Identifica- tion with a specific category is not required).
Four positions are va- cant two with terms of 9/01/2018 – 8/31/2020. Two positions are for the re- mainder of terms 9/01/2018 - 8/31/2019. Positions are specified as individuals from the follow- ing categories: Hispanic / Latino; Native American; At-Large; and Indian Asian.
All nominees must re- side in and be registered voters in Hillsborough County. Appointments are voluntary positions; there- fore, members serve with- out compensation.
The deadline to apply is June 28, 2018. Citizens interested in being consid- ered for appointment must submit: 1) an essay of 200- 500 words highlighting what your goals would be as a member of the Diversity Advisory Council and state why you are most suited to carry forth those goals; 2) a completed Questionnaire for the Diversity Advisory Council and 3) a Standards of Conduct Form. All ques- tions must be answered. Applicants declining to sub- mit an essay will be elimi- nated from further consideration for service on the Diversity Advisory Council of Hillsborough County.
