Pharrell And Robin Thicke Appeal
Robert De Niro took his wife, Grace Hightower to the New York premiere of his film, Joy, on Sunday at the Ziegfeld Theater.
They've been married for over 18 years and appear to only be growing stronger by the day.
The film, written and di- rected by David O. Russell, is about a single mom, Joy Mangano, who builds a busi- ness empire and becomes the founder of a powerful dynasty.
The movie star, who plays Rudy Mangano, Joy's fa- ther, stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley

Omarion Quits ‘Love And Hip Hop Hollywood’
Omarion and girlfriend Apryl and son.
Earlier this year, a jury ruled that Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, and T.I. must pay the family of Marvin Gaye $7.3 million in back royalties after being found guilty of un- rightfully biting Gaye’s 1977 hit “Got to Give it Up” to make their 2013 hit “Blurred Lines.”
Soon after, Judge John A. Kronstadt ruled that Thicke and Williams hand over only $5.3 million and half of all fu- ture royalties from “Blurred Lines” to the Gaye family.
Their lawyer, Howard E. King, said he planned on ap- pealing the verdict, saying,
“We are going to exercise every post-trial remedy we have to make sure this verdict does not stand.”
And it looks like they are doing just that. Last Monday (Dec. 7), they officially filed their motion to appeal the ver- dict.
The attorney for the Gaye family, Paul Phillip, released a statement. “[W]e remain confident that the appeal will have no merit, and when it fails, the Thicke / Williams camp will find themselves faced with the same judgment they’re facing today.’’
Omarion and his girl- friend, Apryl Jones were ab- sent from The “Love &Hip Hop Hollywood” reunion, and there’s a reason why.... they’ve quit the show.
In an interview with ESSENCE Live, Jones said, “We didn’t go to the reunion because Omari was on tour and I was with him with our child. But umm, we are NOT going to do next season.”
While some viewers saw their appearance on the show as “boring,” as they didn’t bring much “drama” to the
storylines, Apryl says that’s exactly why they survived the “reality show curse.”
“We have a strong bond,” Apryl said. “We just knew coming to reality TV we just knew nothing was going to change that. We’ve never been worried about the ‘show curse’ because when we walked into “Love & Hip Hop” filming knowing what we were pre- pared for. They had a lot of re- spect for me and Omari so we weren’t really worried about that. We knew we would be ok walking in and walking out.”
All-Star Cast Perform On Tariji And Terrance Hot Holiday Special
Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle and John Legend
Wednesday night, (Dec. 9), “Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays” aired on FOX, a variety special featuring ac- tress Taraji P. Henson and actor Terrence Howard, their “Empire” cast mates, and musical friends to celebrate the holidays with comedy and music.
Mary J. Blige, John Leg- end, Patti LaBelle, Chris Brown, Tank, Jussie Smollett and Bryshere Y. Gray all performed.
John Legend sang the Jackson 5 version of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” then performed a powerful duet of “O Holy Night” with the one and only Patti La- Belle. In a golden dress, Mary J. Blige performed
“The Christmas Song,” and Chris Brown kept with the golden theme in a bronzed suit. Breezy used the oppor- tunity to sing a song from his upcoming album Royalty, “Back To Sleep,” and his holi- day fan fav, the cover of Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas.” Tank joined him midway through the song. Breezy seemed to struggle during his performance, which fanned some questions to why in Twitter. Brown said it’s be- cause he’s been hitting the grind extra hard lately. “I ap- preciate @TherealTaraji for al- lowing me to come on their Holiday special. Grind season been in full effect. Been under the weather,” he wrote.
