A domestic disturbance at an East Tampa home re- sulted in a fatal stabbing. The incident took place Tuesday morning.
According to the Tampa Police Department, shortly after midnight, Tuesday, the victim, identified as 34-year- old Gerald Lee Gay al- legedly slashed the tires on a vehicle and attempted to enter a home at 1513 E. Frier- son Avenue. Gay knew the woman living in the home police identified as Ms. Rhonda Jackson.

he was not successful because the window had burglar bars. Police said Gay then kicked the front door open into the home.
Once inside, Gay is said to have physically attacked Ms. Jackson. Her children, ages 12, 16, and 18 attempted to intervene and restrain him, but they were not suc- cessful, police said.
At some point during the physical altercation, one of the teenagers grabbed a steak knife and stabbed Gay sev- eral times. He was trans- ported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Police said Ms. Jackson and her children have been cooperating and no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is continu- ing.
A 19-year-old man was ar- rested Wednesday night and charged with attempted first- degree murder. He is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail without bond.
Derrick Gilghrest, of Tampa, is accused of shooting into a vehicle earlier in the day. The vehicle was parked in front of Fat Boys Conven- ience Store, 601 N0rth High- way 41, in Ruskin.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 11 a.m., Earl Williams, 22, of Tampa, was in a black 2012 Cadillac STS, when a white Ford Ex- plorer pulled up behind the car. The driver of the truck in- tentionally blocked him in.
Gilghrest, who was a passenger, and three others were in the Ford Explorer. Gilghrest allegedly fired four shots from a .40 caliber handgun into Williams’ car, striking Williams once in the back. Williams was transported to a local hospi- tal, where he is listed in criti-

cal, but stable condition, po- lice said.
The four people in the Ex- plorer fled the scene. The ve- hicle was found at 1105 Shared Passion Court, in Ruskin. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the resi- dence. Two handguns were found inside.
No additional information was available at press time and the investigation is con- tinuing.

   Two teenagers and two adults were arrested Wednes- day following a high-speed chase through 3 counties. The pursuit involved several law enforcement agencies.
According to Tampa Po- lice, shortly after 3 a.m., an alarm was activated at the AT&T Store, 2730 W. Kennedy Blvd. The alarm company told police their se- curity camera showed that a front window had been shat- tered.
The suspects fled the scene in a Chevy Equinox by the time officers arrived.
A short time later, officers observed a similar vehicle in front of a Verizon Phone Store at the corner of Lois Av- enue and Kennedy Blvd.
After seeing police, the driver of the vehicle fled northbound on Lois Avenue. The vehicle entered the southbound ramp on I-275 at
a high rate of speed and offi- cers followed, attempting to make a traffic stop.
As the chase continued, police were told that the vehi- cle was stolen.
The pursuit continued into St. Petersburg. The driver then made a u-turn, and returned to Tampa on I- 4. Tampa Police activated Air Service and tracked the vehi- cle as it continued through Hillsborough County and into Polk County.
Police were able to stop the vehicle. But the driver jumped out and ran across I- 4. He remains at large.
The four passengers in- side the vehicle were taken into custody. The four have been identified as Jamal Lafortune, 23, of Orlando; Kris Jimmell Leon Hooks, 20, of Orlando; Keyandre Livert, 15, of Ocoee; and 17-year-old
