Black History Committee Hosting Golf Tournament
A member of the U.S. Air Force with ties to the Tampa Bay Area, recently completed all requirements and gradu- ated from basic military training. Airman 1st Class Luis Denton participated in the graduation ceremony held at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.
Airman 1st Class Den- ton completed an intensive, eight-week program that in- cluded training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
He also earned four cred- its toward an Associate in Applied Science Degree through the Community Col- lege of the Air Force.

ton, of Tampa, and he is the brother of Natasha Munoz, of Spring, Texas.
He graduated from Wire- grass High School in Wesley Chapel in 2013. He contin- ued his education at Pasco- Hernando State College, where he earned an Associ- ate Degree in 2017.
Fraternity Members Assist Senior Citizen
Several member of Pi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., re- cently offered their serv- ices to senior citizen, Mrs. Julia H. Jackson. Mrs. Jackson and her daugh- ter, Julia E. Training
The City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. (COTBHC) will host their 4th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 8:30 a. m., at Rogers Park Golf Course, 7910 North 30th Street, Tampa, FL 33610.
This event provides schol- arships to African-American high school graduates in the Hillsborough County School District, to help further their education.
The committee will be presenting scholarships on Monday, May 20th.
The tournament cost in- cludes cart and lunch with the traditional 4 person scramble. There will be vari- ous giveaways, contests, raf- fles, door prizes and trophies, with music provided by Lonewolf Productions.
Committee President, Ce- leste Gibbons-Peoples says, “This event offers an ex- cellent opportunity to net-
work and have fun all while supporting the youth in this community.”
The City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc., is a 501c3 organization, and all proceeds from the tourna- ment goes towards the schol- arship program.
