Tyson Breaks Ground On Marijuana Ranch And Resort
MIKE TYSON
Former heavyweight cham- pion Mike Tyson is becoming a California marijuana entrepre- neur.
Tyson and partners on Dec. 20 broke ground on a plot for a cannabis resort in California City, a remote Mojave Desert town that's about a 110-mile drive north of Los Angeles.
Partner Robert Hickman tells the website that the unde- veloped lands are primed to be cultivated and that Tyson Ranch will be an oasis.
California City Mayor Jen- nifer Wood thanked Tyson for his commitment to the com- munity, saying the industry will provide medical marijuana to people in need, revenue, jobs and income for residents.
Isaiah Thomas Cheered By Boston Fans, Says He's 'Good' With Danny Ainge
Isaiah Thomas received a standing ovation from fans at TD Garden when he was shown on the JumboTron be- fore the start of the second quarter of Wednesday night's game between the Celtics and- Cavaliers.
Thomas, who was dealt to Cleveland in late August with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 un- protected first-round pick and the Miami Heat's 2020 sec- ond-round pick in exchange for Kyrie Irving, pounded his chest and waved to the crowd from in front of the Cavaliers bench.
At Thomas' request, the Celtics did not show a pre- pared tribute video for him. He was sitting out the second night of a back-to-back after making his season debut in Cleveland's win over the Port- land Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
The ovation initially caught Thomas by surprise.
The Celtics spoiled Thomas' return, handing the Cavaliers a 102-88 loss. After the game, Thomas embraced

Smart. Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca also sought out Thomas, and Irving did the same, sharing a hug with the man he was
traded for over the summer. Thomas, who has admit- ted to being stung initially by the trade, had seemingly har- bored a bit of frustration to- ward Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. He first said in October that he "might not ever talk to
Danny again."
But Thomas said that
Ainge reached out after his re- turn to action on Tuesday, and that they were on good terms again.
"Have I forgiven Danny?" Thomas said. "He texted me last night, so yeah, we're good."
Alabama Vs. Georgia For National Championship
Alabama and Georgia won their College Football Playoff semifinals on Monday and will meet in the national championship Monday in Atlanta, the home of the Southeastern Con- ference title game.
The game starts at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
Monday
"Couldn't have scripted it better in some ways," SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said. "It will be one of the sweetest drives from Birming- ham (Alabama, where the SEC offices are located) to Atlanta that we've ever experienced."
The fourth-ranked Crimson Tide smothered No. 1 Clemson 24-6 in their Sugar Bowl rub- ber match after the third- ranked Bulldogs won the first overtime in Rose Bowl history, a wild 54-48 victory that elimi- nated No. 2 Oklahoma and Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield.
It will be the second time in seven seasons that the national title will come down to two SEC
teams. Alabama beat LSU in New Orleans to win the 2011 championship.
At least this all-SEC affair next Monday night won't be a rematch: Georgia and Alabama did not play in 2017.
Both will be making a re- turn trip to Mercedes-Benz Sta- dium. Alabama started its season in the shiny new home of the Atlanta Falcons by beat- ing Florida State. The Tide hoped it would be the first of three trips to Atlanta, but it let the second one slip away. Al- abama's regular-season finale loss at Auburn cost the Tide the SEC West and spot in the con- ference title game against Georgia.
Georgia tailback Sony Michel (#1) cele- brates with teammates after scoring the game-winning touchdown.
