Dress for Success (DFS) is an organization that empowers women to achieve economic in- dependence by providing a network of sup- port, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
According to Katie McGill, the Executive Director of Dress for Success (DFS) Tampa Bay, the main goal of DFS is empowering women. The donation of clothes is part of the formula for success; however, programming is essential to the immense success of DFS Tampa Bay.
The Community Action Project (CAP) is just an example of the type of programs DFS uses to teach empowerment and success. A client is chosen and tasked with identifying a social need in their community and then cre- ating an initiative and utilizing local resources to bring awareness to their chosen issue. This program fosters the value of not only receiving help, but also paying it forward. DFS also works with local entities like CareerSource
Tampa Bay to further educate and empower women.
In addition to being Miss USA, Kryst is an attorney who has worked extensively with clients serving excessive time for low-level drug offenses. Ms. Kryst works these cases pro bono in her quest to achieve criminal jus- tice reform.
In the past, Kryst has worked closely with Dress for Success Charlotte and now is a Dress for Success Impact Ambassador on a national level.
Cheslie earned both her law degree and MBA from Wake Forest University and grad- uated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from the Honors College at the University of South Carolina.
Miss USA was also recently elected to the national board of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
