The fourth person wanted in connection with an armed robbery and shooting has been arrested. He was taken into custody in Miami Tues- day night.
According to the Bartow Police Department, Jonathan Vaughn was taken into custody with the assistance of the Miami-Dade Police Department. Bartow Police Detectives and Miami- Dade Detectives worked to- gether to locate Vaughn.
He was booked into the Miami-Dade Detention Cen- ter and will be extradited back to Polk County to face several criminal charges, including armed robbery.
According to police, the incidents began on August 3rd, when an armed robbery took place at the ATA Stereo Sound Shop, 1256 N. Broad- way Avenue, in Bartow. The store owner told police that 2 men entered the store armed with handguns. They de- manded money and fled the store with an undisclosed
amount of cash.
The second incident took
place on August 9th, in the Azalea Gardens Apartment Complex, 1050 South Golfview Avenue.
Officers made contact with Juan Neira and Este- fania Daza, who reported they had been beaten and robbed.
Neira and Daza are part of a student exchange pro- gram and are from another country. The victims told po- lice they went to the apart- ment complex after communicating with some- one on social media to sell an iphone.
However, when the two victims arrived, they were robbed at gunpoint, pistol whipped, and shots were fired at them. The victims sus- tained lacerations to their heads as a result of being pis- tol whipped.
Detectives said their in- vestigation led them to Vaughn, 21, of Bartow, as one of the suspects. During
the investigation, police iden- tified Genard Demari Smith, Jr., 19, also of Bar- tow, as the second suspect. Smith was arrested in the Azalea Gardens Complex on August 17th.
Eric Genard Futch, 23, of Brandon, is accused of being involved in the ATA Stereo Sound Shop robbery. He was arrested in Brandon, by the Bartow Police Depart- ment, working in conjunction with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives learned that Futch’s girlfriend, Ms. Keirra Lampley, 22, of Winter Haven, assisted them in the robbery by serving as a lookout. She was arrested as well.
A warrant had been issued for Vaughn. He is facing charges of 2 counts armed robbery with a firearm, 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon posses- sion of a firearm by a con- victed felon and discharging a firearm in public.
