42 Violent Deaths This Year Show An Increase In Murders
Reward Offered For Information On Seffner Murder
Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward for information related to the murder of a man last Sun- day morning outside of a lounge in Seffner.
At 1:27 a.m., Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the AMG Hookah Lounge, 1430 Kingsway Rd.
The victim, Micheal Darnell Richardson, Jr., had been shot and was transported to a local hospi- tal where he was pro- nounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for informa- tion that leads to the identi- fication and arrest of the unknown suspect in this case.

Since the beginning of the New Year, 42 people have died violent deaths in Hills- borough County. The Tampa Police has investigated 24 of those cases, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has investigated 16, and the Tem- ple Terrace and Plant City Police Departments have each investigated one violent death.
Police have investigated violent deaths each month this year. In some of the cases, the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Of- fice has declined prosecu- tion.
During the month of Jan- uary, nine violent deaths took place. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office inves- tigated the deaths of En- rique Garcia, 36, and arrested Ruben Ro- driguez. This was the first murder in the county and took place on January 3rd.
Kalvin Williams was arrested and charged in the deaths of Lloyd Travonte Gordon, 20, and 17-year- old Jose Rolando Aguirre, that took place on January 22nd.
The Tampa Police investi- gated 5 deaths that were ruled as homicides. The vic- tims are Life Coleman, 18; James Strouse, 51; James Bradford, 26, Christo- pher Reddick, 43l and 24- year-old LeTerrance Goggins.
Aveon Yarborough was charged with the murder of James Bradford, and the investigation involving Red- dick was referred to the State Attorney’s Office. The other three deaths remain ac- tive investigations.
The investigation into the death of 39-year-old Manuel Silva Maldon- ado, by the Plant City Police Department is continuing.
During the month of Feb- ruary, Tampa Police investi- gated four violent deaths.
Carlos Ismael Navarro, 19, was charged with manslaughter in the death of Jose Gonzalez, and Gregory Moran, Jr.,
39, was charged with the murder of his father, Gre- gory James Walker, 60. Reginald Hightower, 28, and Robert Cruz Gomez, 31, remain active cases.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office charged Keith Dukes with the mur- der of his wife, Michelle Dukes. The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Of- fice declined to prosecute Armando Yordan in the death of 22-year-old Angel Reyes.
The investigation into the death of Christino Basilio Galvez remains open.
The 14 violent deaths that took place in March are the most in a single month this year.
Tampa Police have inves- tigated 7 cases, including the death of Ikeim Boswell, whose death was ruled acci- dental. Other victims were: Anton Fisher, (whose case was referred to the State At- torney’s Office). Police are still investigating the deaths of David Cooper, Jamylin Turner, Richard New- ton, Bryant Murray, and William Cloud.
Three of those deaths in- volved juveniles. Newton was the youngest at 14. Boswell and Turner were both 16 years old.
The month of March held a record number of violent deaths investigated by the Hillsborough County Sher- iff’s Office. Six violent deaths occurred with the murders of Oscar Luis Cas- tro Gonzalez, 32, remain- ing an open investigation.
Charles J. Cline was charged with the murder of Stephen Murtha, 38, a homeless man. Vasilios Tsioros fatally shot himself after killing Sofia Kefalas, 52, and 85-year-old Bessie Kefalas.
Peter Drosses was charged with the murder of George McCord; and Gary Delano Williams was arrested in connection with the death of Robert W. Smith.
The Temple Terrace Police Department is investigating one shooting that took place on March 7th. In that case,
Michael Estenfil died. The State Attorney’s Office will determine if Kelvin Spencer will face charges in the case.
Tampa Police detectives charged James Ware in the death of Ms. Denise Cog- man and Tydarrious Kirkland was charged with the murder of Jerrod Coachman. The third death in April of Gustavo Reyes Ochoa is still under investi- gation.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office investigated the deaths of a 20-month-old male child and charged Jose Adan Lopez with his death. No one has been charged with the murder of Travis Ware and it remains an open investigation.
During the month of May, Tampa Police investigated the deaths of Vancol Robie, 23, and Edward Harris, 14. Both of those cases remain active investi- gations.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the death of Hanry Hernandez Suarez.
During the month of June, four violent deaths occurred with three of them being in- vestigated by Tampa Police.
Orin Edwardo Bivens,
48, was charged with the murder of Alfred Lester. The Tampa Police Depart- ment is conducting inde- pendent investigations into the unrelated deaths of Ms. Sharon Darns Watkins, 58, and Kirk Chang, 40. Both murders took place on June 27th.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the death of 19-year-old Marcus Jordan that took place on June 19th.
