     The People Have Spoken
olls have long since closed. “Now-news” is now
old news, wherein winners blush with victory while losers flush with defeat. “What’s next?” is the big question. But, before we delve into such a question, we take this opportunity to congratulate Tampa’s new mayor and new City Council members for volunteer- ing to do what few individuals have either the time or inclination to do: to serve their community tirelessly and completely.
But, let us look closer at our new leader. Jane Cas- tor is a proven bureaucrat . . . a public servant who cut her teeth as a rookie cop on the often unforgiving streets of Tampa’s diverse, yet individualistic neigh- borhoods.
Therefore, it is said, she – the new mayor – knows full well how to talk the talk and walk-the-beat. But with pats on her back go a bevy of doubts and slurs. This new mayor still carries baggage packed when as Police Chief, she seemed more privy to back police pol- icy that was tougher on Black bicyclists than their non- Black counterparts. As a candidate, the now-mayor apologized for any misgivings her leadership may have fomented as did she attempt to assure certain parts of the city that she was as much their mayor as every- body’s mayor. But now, the magnifying glass is on full- light.
Will Mayor Jane Castor indeed be hands-on and ears-open . . . or will she at times be inaccessible as was her predecessor, at times? And now that a new anthem has been brought to play in the closed doors and back- rooms of the City of Tampa, what will it mean outside the confines of City Hall?
However, no matter the questions and suppositions posed by the immediate future, one thing is for sure: The People of Tampa have spoken. For the next four years, their will shall be done.
Why Roku May Be Better Than The Amazon Fire Stick
   he Roku streaming
stick cannot be jail bro- ken as in the case of the Amazon Fire Stick. However, Roku tends to offer more media content and a nicer re- mote to find your favorite shows. Both sticks offer 4k streaming and operate fairly fast depending on the speed of your Wi-Fi.
The Roku stick does come with ads, but is less of a commercial hog than the Fire Stick. Both sticks will run you anywhere from $35- $40, which does not leave a big hole in your pocket.
The Roku stick still offers more convenience. Example,
if you already have a sub- scription service with a main media provider such as Spec- trum. You will be able to watch basic television chan- nels from Spectrum at a low fee.
There is no real knock on the Amazon Fire stick which offers more internal memory than the Roku stick. The Roku offers only 256MB of storage and 512MB of mem- ory, while the Amazon Fire stick carries 8GB of internal storage and 1GB of memory. The processing speed are al- most identical, both are very responsive and get the job done in a timely manner.
Both sticks also startup pretty fast and offer a long battery life.
By providing over more than 5,000 channels, the Roku has a big advantage over the Fire stick which is limited to Amazon prime shows and content. There is also a feeling of less restric- tions with the Roku stick that Amazon simple does not offer. The Fire stick offers an outlet to fewer video services and mainstream content. Amazon and Roku are close to being even when consider- ing popular apps, such as Netflix, HBO, Hulu, YouTube, as you will have ac- cess to all these apps and their services with either sticks.
