Man Laying In Road Dies After Being Struck By Car

Man Charged With Burglary, Assault
      A 57-year-old man died after being struck by a car. The accident took place in the southbound lanes of Bruce B. Downs, near 131st Avenue.
According to police, Ms. Minguelina A. Schon- herr, 60, was driving a Toy- ota Tundra when she hit a man laying in the road. The accident took place Sunday night, around 9 p.m.
The victim has been identified as Thomas Vin- son Oliver, who died after being transported to a local hospital.
During the investigation, police learned that the Hills-
borough County Fire De- partment had removed Oliver from the roadway earlier in the evening and transported him to the Vet- eran’s Hospital. However, Oliver refused to be treated and left the hospital on foot. He left the hospital about 15 minutes before he was hit by the car, police said.
Witnesses also told po- lice that other cars may have struck Oliver after the ini- tial accident.

A 36-year-old Thonoto- sassa man died Friday morn- ing. He was involved in a traffic accident at U. S. High- way 92 and Carmack Road.
Investigators said Tommy Lee Hill was driving a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound on U. S. Highway 92. Fernando Castellanos, 40, of Lake- land, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet westbound on U. S. Highway 92.
Hill is said to have been traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass more than one vehicle in the eastbound lanes. As a result, he collided with Castellanos’ vehicle, nearly head-on.
After the impact, the mo- torcycle overturned and Hill was ejected. He died at the scene.
Castellanos was not in- jured, investigators said.
A 73-year-old man has been charged with a crime that took place January 21, 2019.
According to police, deputies responded to Sun City Center in reference to a burglary. The victim, a woman in her 80s, told police that someone had entered her home, covered her face with a towel, kissed and fon- dled her in her bedroom.
Police conducted an in- vestigation and obtained saliva and evidence found on the victim.
Investigators had also spoken with Robert Ople- tal, who is known to the vic- tim and obtained a cheek swab. The results of the test

proved the evidence matched the sample taken from Ople- tal.
He was arrested and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling with as- sault on an elderly victim.
