Starz Drops Premiere Date
Brandy – ‘B7’ Review: Illustrious R&B Star Shares Hard-Won Truths On Forthright Comeback Record
And New Trailer For
'Power' Spin-Off 'Book II'
Eight years is a long time to go without a new Brandy album – and the illustrious singer knows it. “Sorry for my tardy / Long time I was bro- ken-hearted,” she sings on ‘Saving All My Love’, the opening track on ‘B7’, her first studio album since 2012’s ‘Two Eleven’. The song also serves as a tribute to her late mentor and idol Whitney Houston, as she nods to “the goat” over a euphoric hotbed of kick drums and unrelenting keys doused in urgency.
But more than an apology to fans, ‘B7’ is about healing. At its core, it’s an album about love, but that love isn’t always for someone else. Focusing on
ated with inner wisdom – Mis- sissippi’s Brandy Norwood puts herself under the micro- scope.
On ‘Unconditional Oceans’ she acknowledges a dysfunc- tional past: “Used to be a mess /Hadnohearttoheal/Was self-sabotaging.” She doesn’t stay down for long, though, finding herself a new swagger on the empowering ‘I Am More’, manoeuvring the busy production, understanding her worth, and even finding time to flip some of Eminem’s lyrics from Biggie’s posthu- mous 1999 hit ‘Dead Wrong’ (“I got a lion in my pocket, I’m lying but not lying/ I’m a lion in my pocket”).
Missing your Sunday Power fix? You’re not alone, sis.
On Monday, Starz released the official trailer for the new 10-episode original series, Power Book II: Ghost, starring Michael Rainey, Jr. as badass Tariq St. Patrick, Naturi Naughton as his mother, Tasha, and Mary J. Blige as a new drug dealer sure to shake things up. It’s the first of four spin-offs of 50 Cent’s hit crime drama, Power, that concluded earlier this year.
Power Book II picks up shortly after the death of James St. Patrick better known as Ghost (Omari Hardwick) in the original se- ries, which wrapped back in February after six seasons. As Tariq (Rainey Jr.) grapples with his new reality that finds his mother, Tasha (Naughton), facing charges for Ghost’s murder, he must also balance the academic rig- ors of the Ivy League univer-

sity he’s attending to earn his inheritance.
“The Power universe just keeps getting bigger and better and Power Book II: Ghost is getting ready to raise the bar again,” said executive pro- ducer 50 Cent in a statement. “We can’t wait for the fans to see what is in store for all of the characters they know and those they are about to meet. I have told you before, Power never ends...we are just getting started.”

Twista Launches Gun Camp To Teach Firearm Safety
BEVERLY HILLS, CA – King Combs was hit by a drunk driver in Beverly Hills and though his car took a hit, thankfully he is okay.
TMZ reports the incident went down just after midnight on Tuesday (August 5), when a man in a Telsa lost control and rear-ended a Ferrari belonging to Diddy‘s youngest son – to- taling both vehicles. While Combs did suffer injuries, they were minor enough to be treated on the scene and did not require a trip to the hospi- tal. The Tesla driver failed a so-
a DUI.
The unfortunate event
comes on the heels of a major moment for the “Love You Bet- ter” rapper, as his 2019 collab- oration with Teyana Taylor “How You Want It” was certi- fied gold on Thursday (July 30). He also received his first- ever entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in July via his appearance on Pop Smoke’s posthumous album. “Diana” entered the chart at No. 76 in the week fol- lowing the release of Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon on July 3.
Twista is launching a gun camp to teach firearm safety amid these wild times.
The legendary Chicago MC opened enrollment on Wednesday morning (August 5) for sessions in his home- town. For $499, interested parties will work with Twista, law enforcement specialist Joe Joe Stagen and Cre- ative Scott and receive a con- cealed carry certification, lunch, fingerprints and the op- portunity to hear new music from the “Overnight Celebrity” rapper.

Master P Explains Why He Told Snoop Dogg To Axe $1M 'F--k Death Row' Album
Snoop Dogg appeared on a recent episode of The Break- fast Club where he told Char- lamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee about the time Master P saved his life.
Shortly after leaving Death Row Records in 1998, the gangsta rap pioneer was plot- ting an album called F**k Death Row. Fortunately for him, Master P talked him out of it and Snoop went on to lead a fruitful life. Had he not, things could’ve potentially spilled out into the streets and there’s no telling where he would be today.
MASTER P
During a new episode of The Breakfast Club, the No Limit boss was asked what “God told in him that moment to help
Snoop.”
Master P replied, “I’m
about doing what’s right, man. I told Snoop whatever you say about Suge Knight, that man did you put you on, put you in the game, so doing that would be a bad move because it’s all about integrity — you got to be thankful.
“I think a lot of people aren’t thinking like that. You got to be thankful for the op- portunities. I told him. I said, ‘When you’re the boss you can do whatever you want to do. You need to go boss up now.’ We don’t need to be getting into it with other Black men.”
