Police Arrest Coach For Having Sex With Student
Man Indicted For Threatening To Kill Federal Judge
A federal grand jury in- dicted a Tampa man for threatening the life of a fed- eral judge. The indictment took place last Wednesday.
According to court docu- ments, Jason Jerome Springer, 39, has been in- dicted for threatening to as- sault and murder a U. S. judge. The threat was made in retaliation against the judge presiding over his case.
The judge, District Judge Elizabeth Kovachevich, 80, has since recused herself from his case. She was the judge assigned to oversee his recent charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm,
Officials did not reveal why Springer was under in- vestigation. However, the ar- rest came about after he visited a gun range in Tampa.

He was observed on video fir- ing 3 guns and expending 12 rounds of ammunition.
Springer was convicted of possession with intent to deliver or sell marijuana in June 2010, and cannot pos- sess a firearm.
According to court docu- ments, on November 11, 2016, Springer allegedly posted a video of himself on Facebook. The video was made while he was at the shooting range. After review- ing the post on Facebook, an officer with the FBI Task Force recognized the shoot- ing range as being Shooters World, 116 E. Fletcher Av- enue.
The agents determined that Springer and his room- mate had visited the shooting range and the video was posted the same day.
Based on the information gathered during the investi- gation, Springer was ar- rested on November 22, 2016, and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Police have arrested a 39- year-old Instructional Assis- tant for Student Discipline and Head Coach of the girls Junior Varsity Basketball Team. He is charged with 6 counts of sexual battery on a juvenile. The penalty of the charge has been enhanced because it was against a stu- dent of which he had author- ity.
Samuel Walker has been charged with unlawful sexual activity with a 17-year- old student. The student at- tends Zephyrhills High School. The victim was the manager for the junior varsity basketball team.
Walker was employed at the school where the victim is a student.
There are also six war- rants for his arrest issued by Hillsborough County for un- lawful sexual activities with a minor.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said the of- fenses took place between February 1, and April 17, 2017. The offenses took place in a motel room, Walker’s car, and on the roadside.

Walker was arrested by the Pasco County Sheriff’s Of- fice. He was in custody for an unrelated charge when a computer check revealed he was wanted by Hillsborough County for unlawful sexual activities with a minor.
The complaint affidavit said the victim and Walker engaged in consensual sex several times in both Pasco and Hillsborough Counties.
Walker allegedly admit- ted to the offense and told po- lice that he only had sex with the victim because he thought she was going to blackmail him if he stopped, police said.

Woman Found In Pond Identified
The St. Petersburg Police Department has identified a woman whose body was found on Saturday. A bicyclist discov- ered the body.
According to police, the body of Ms. Melissa Hig- gins, 41, of St. Petersburg, was discovered in a creek west of the Jet Jackson Recreation, 1000 28th Street, South.
Ms. Higgins’ body was sent to the medical examiner’s office to determine a cause of death. The investigation is con- tinuing.
Drive-By Shooting Leaves Man Injured
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently investigat- ing a shooting that left a man injured. The shooting took place shortly before 4 p.m., Saturday.
According to police, the victim was at the corner of 7th Avenue and N. Scott Street when a Black man shot him as he walked near the corner of 7th Avenue and Scott Street.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the unidentified man was suffer-
ing from a gunshot wound to the left portion of his chest. He was transported to a local hospital. Police said the vic- tim was not cooperating with the investigation.
During their investigation, police learned that the sus- pect was a passenger in a 4- d0or, white Ford Fusion. After the shooting, the vehicle fled the scene west on E. 7th Avenue, police said.
The investigation is con- tinuing, police said.
Quarrel Between Two Men Ends With Shooting Death
A 29-year-old man was killed Saturday night after becoming involved in an ar- gument with another man. The shooting took place at 1428 12th Street, South, in St. Petersburg.
According to police, Ty- rone Walker, 35, was vis- iting a relative when he became involved in an alter- cation with Jay Devonne Powell. At some point dur- ing the altercation, Walker shot Powell.
Walker then called po- lice and waited for their ar- rival. Police said the investigation is continuing
